Hi all! I’m new to these forums, not totally new to the Keto WOE. In the past, I’ve always focused on weight-loss, which is frustrating as I’m always very slow to lose. Coming upon this forum and reading so many Non-Scale Victories inspired me to re-start for reasons that have nothing to do with weight loss. I’ve also never done anything with Intermittent Fasting before, so I’m working on that as well.
A bit about me. I’m post-menopausal at 56, and until recently fairly active even though technically obese. I suffer from arthritis, supposedly OA but I wonder. It’s in both knees, one foot, my back, one wrist, one elbow, and a shoulder. I also have an upcoming surgery on my non-arthritic foot, so my main goal is to reduce inflammation and help in the healing process. Other goals are evening out my moods and reversing any cognitive decline, as well as improving my energy levels. In the past, I’ve used the scale as a measure of success or failure, and become so disappointed at the slowness of results that I gave up. I’m hoping that by focusing on other things, I’ll bypass that frustration and improve my health for the remainder of my years.
I started cleaning up my diet after Christmas, and started Keto more officially on New Years Day. Today is day 3 of IF, and I’m feeling pretty good. In the past doing LCHF, the focus was on never getting hungry, thus eating something every few hours. Now I’m focusing on extending the time between meals and/or snacks, and I’m feeling better. I’m currently at 16:8, which I think is good for me for now.
I want to thank each of you for your posts and information. I’ve been reading a lot the last few days, and will probably always read much more than I post. If I don’t express my appreciation on each thread, it’s still felt. Particularly I appreciate the focus on science and on NSV.
Looking forward to reading much more, and to someday helping others as I’ve already been helped
