Well I have been a lurker here since the beginning of the year. I converted to keto around the first of the year and am absolutely in love with it! So much so that I have purged my entire house and don’t cook with anything I can’t eat anymore. With a household size of six it has had it’s challenges. Though none more so than my husband(Keto was his idea). He does not like avocado, vinaigrette, broccoli, sour cream, mushrooms or cream cheese. He thinks cauliflower is just okay and does not like coffee. I LOVE all of these! So that has made designing a menu to suit us both problematic to say the least.

To add to this challenge he does not want to take any time in the morning to make breakfast. No eggs, bacon…nothing. For me those items take mere moments but for him he says it’s a lifetime. I usually have a BPC for breakfast every morning without fail. He won’t touch it. So to finish this off I have finally concocted a bulletproof that gives him the fats and protein he needs to get going and not just stop by chic-fil-a on his way to work now.

I don’t know if this has been done. I have not seen it anywhere but if it is up somewhere, well great minds think alike.

Bone Broth Base
2 lbs Chicken Bones and skin (I usually just use 2 whole chickens that I have deboned)
2 whole carrots
1 whole onion
6 quarts of water
10 peppercorns (optional)
2 stalks of celery
1 tsp ginger (optional)
1 tsp garlic
Salt to taste

  1. Place all ingredients in a large stock pot and bring to a boil. Then turn down to low and simmer for 12-14 hours. Arguably this could be done in a crock pot. The longer it sits the more flavor it has.
  2. Check occasionally and top off with water as needed.
  3. Strain off solids and discard. This will yield you about 24 cups of broth.

Now you have a wonderful bone broth for soups or other things. I took it step further and converted it to BPBB (bullet proof bone broth)
1 cup bone broth
2 tbs Great Lakes Gelatin - Collagen Hydrolysate (I use this because it has no taste and dissolves in hot or cold liquid)
1 tbs unsalted butter
1 tbs Better Body Foods - Organic Coconut Oil

  1. Place in a bowl and use either an immersion blender or milk frother to combine.
  2. Enjoy warm meaty happiness and being full for hours.

When I had the flu recently, I added butter to my bone broth (that I luckily already had in the freezer) and I survived on that for a few days. I can see having it for breakfast. Does hubby like it?

He does indeed. I can see how it would be a good thing for a flu sufferer as well. I keep it in one of those baby crock pots over night on keep warm, so that all he has to do is dip it out! I spice each little pot differently a couple of times a week. Examples a bit of grated ginger, extra garlic, pinch of cayenne, hint of cumin. Just other small things to make it taste a bit different each day. Helps with the monotony.
