Heyy!
I have been on the keto diet for almost a month now.
I do the intermedient fasting (i eat inbetween 3-9pm), i count my calories and never go above 18g net carbs a day. A lot of my carbs go into green veggies. I check my blood ketone levels daily and its always in between 1.8 and 4.2 mmol/L
I lost my initial water weight of 15lbs in about a week. But for some time now i have not been losing any weight. In fact I gained 2 pounds. Is this normal?
New to keto and puzzled
Be patient and keep on it – everyone hits this plateau at the beginning after losing the water weight. It usually takes a month (it could take more) to fat-adapt your body, especially if you started with bad insulin resistance. Took me a month between water-loss and real weight loss.
Weight loss is never linear. You will go up and down as you go on, how much food in your digestive tract, how much water weight are factors. One liter of water weighs one kilogram. So drinking a pint of water will temporarily add one pound. As @KetoAugust2018 said there’s a gap between water loss initially and fat loss when you become fat adapted, maybe 6-8 weeks in you will turn into a fat burning machine.
“Almost a month” = you are in week 4. You are experiencing what is called “Post Induction Stall Syndrome” - which is quite common about that time range.
Give it 6 to 8 weeks.
Hi Mary. I concur with the others about being patient and letting your hormones sort themselves out. I just want to add that hopefully you are not constantly hungry or have a lot of stress in your day. Both of these things can keep you from losing weight.
I understand wanting to satisy a macro but if it doesn’t satisfy your hunger, it’s not going to work.
Hii thanks everyone for the replies! Im new on the forum so i have no idea if im posting this at the right place hahah.
Nope not really hungry. I never ate breakfast before anyways, so its not that bad to wait till 3pm.
Im generaly not a very stressed person but we all have our moments.
But i have ben noticing little rash like spots on my arms and dry skin lately as well. Now i dont know if its my adaptation to my new diet or if its the dry cold winter weather doing this. But i hydrate myself plenty, so i bought bentonite clay so i’ll just wait ans see if will fix the rashes
