I actually know all about the theory of keto and low carb and am a Diet Doctor (paid) member https://www.dietdoctor.com (fantastic site, great info and recipes) but have fallen off the wagon badly due to some serious family stresses. BUT … I am going to make a fresh start (red wine is my enemy so have to give that up). I’ve been very successful in the past but unfortunately life gets in the way :frowning:

Maybe try a ‘quick start’. I enjoyed watching these 3 episodes for a bit of motivation (1)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQOsaeduYx4 (2)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX9dlwkr0TQ
(3)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPpWmJDLehk

I’m thinking of starting off with this egg fast first tho https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxoIENMjxKE

I think I need a ‘quick start’ to show some results for further motivation. Good luck!

Satiation is very different from fullness. The French, those paradoxical people who eat a lot of fat and don’t have a lot of heart disease, never say the French equivalent of “I’m full;” instead, they say, “J’en ai eu assez,” which is literally “I’ve had enough.” I didn’t understand that, back in my university days, because I was a carb-burner and never had enough.

As a carb-burner, I would eat as much spaghetti as I could fit into my stomach, and still be hungry. On keto, I reckon I’m somewhere around half-full, because I have plenty of room for more, but I simply don’t want more. I have had enough. In fact, I sometimes even get a bit queasy at the thought of more food. It’s weird.

I need some very low-calorie food to get half-full when satiated  I am usually nowhere close to that!
My stomach has a nice capacity, I always got very very satiated on high-carb and that actually took a big amount as carbs just made me hungrier but I ate very fatty and lots of protein too so it was still below my limits.
But sometimes we do feel full when eating a smallish volume… We probably truly are full, our stomach is small and full, no need to expand further. Its size vary, after all. I don’t know how quickly but it seems to me that mine has no problems with reaching a pretty high capacity even after periods of eating low volume food…
I usually say I am satiated as I don’t feel how full I am (unless I am completely full but that takes a lot). It’s an irrelevant information to me, maybe that’s why.

I didn’t get the clear stop on keto until I tried carnivore, it was very unusual! I usually could eat a ton after getting satiated (so OMAD isn’t particularly hard on a carbier diet) but it quite drastically changed. And I got my perfect stop with my perfect satiation, it was amazing, I never had that before.
The amount enough for satiation changed too, it’s super tiny sometimes, it actually bothers me, I don’t want to eat many meals to get my nutrients. Extreme low-carb with a small eating window (both parts are what I prefer as default), it’s tricky, maybe I will get used to it or figure out something… I don’t like a carby woe but even OMAD is very easy there… At least according to my tiny experiments.

Stomach growling was mentioned… It’s probably extremely individual. So many intermittent faster is complaining about that. I almost never get it in the first 24 hours after my last meal and it’s a few seconds anyway… But sometimes it comes early. It’s just something the body does, it has nothing to do with my eating, hunger or need of fuel.

I think of it as being well nourished. My body is getting all the nutrients it needs, so it gets satiated. I’m even finding that I just don’t have a “taste” for anything. I enjoy my food when I eat it, but I no longer have that little voice that says, “Boy, I could really go for a ______.”

So true! And so unbelievable! I forget to eat, that’s crazy too! And then a switch gets flipped at some point and I push my plate away. Whaaat?
