Need guidance - been doing some form of keto and IF for several months - not losing - have gained

I do this too now, when you cook fresh garlic early in a recipe the flavor diminishes during cooking, I find garlic granules added during the last minute or two of cooking gives a strong flavor with a very small amount. And little dehydrated onion flakes really release a lot of flavor when sautéed in oil a few seconds. They will flavor the oil. Do I miss the fresh, yes but my keto goals are more important than culinary perfection. :cowboy_hat_face:

I am by no means an expert but, as a newbie, I think tracking is key. Also, I find it helpful to plan my whole days worth of food 1 or 2 days out. Tracking will tell the truth. I don’t wing meals at all yet. I use LoseIt and it is really helping me. I have set some goals for the grams of protein, carb and fat which is also helping. I’m finding that cheese is something I have to eat sparingly. The LoseIt program also allows me to create recipes so that the whole thing shows the grams of each. Just my 2 cents

WOW - thanks so much for all of the info. I am hearing you loud and clear…

drop the extra fat - let the fat from bod be the source…
drop the sweetners
drop the cream/butter in coffee
buckle down for 2 weeks

Track every thing.

I’ll definitely give those a shot…sounds all very right and reasonable - I REALLY appreciate the info and your time.

Hi Fuggs…

I am interested in what you are saying I am just not totally clear on what you mean. Can you elaborate?

The next 2 day “sugar burner” mode thing is very interesting and probably a big culprit here. Thanks for that insight. And i am sure that there are other days where the carbs creep up. Tracking will help that…noted.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #26

But at the same time, give your body enough calories to convince it there’s no famine going on, so it’s safe to let go of fat.

You can do that by eating to satiety: don’t eat unless humgry, stop eating when no longer hungry, don’t eat again until hungry again. Even though your body will set your appetite to a level that allows it to burn both the fat you eat and the fat you’ve already stored, eating to satiety won’t trigger the famine reflex, because it’s your body, not you, calling the shots.:bacon:

This might be a new experience for you if you’re used to eating till you’re full. I would suggest this, use a smaller plate or just put smaller portions on the plate to start. Eat leisurely chewing your food well and relax a moment between your bites. Most overeating is due to our food being gone before we’re ready to be finished with the eating experience. Most of us eat too fast. You will have eaten enough to be satisfied before you’re stomach is full. What you want is 80% full. When you finish your smaller portion wait 10-15 minutes and if you really are hungry eat a bit more. Give this practice a try and see how well it works for you. :cowboy_hat_face:

Hi David - Very sensible advice…I do eat fast. The other thing I’ve often wondered about is I drink a LOT when I eat…always have. Used to be Cokes… Wonder if that causes issues - even if its water.

Anyway - thx a lot. I will try to incorporate that…thx for your time.

^^^ this

Something I noticed when I was young was that thin people ate very slow and put down their forks and talked in between bites.

I grew up eating with just my brother (parents ate later by themselves) and we were always in competition with each other. Who could eat the most. Who could eat the fastest. We were thin because SAD and fast food were still 10 years away but it creates bad habits.

And of course I was raised with the “clean your plate” credo. Starving kids in xxxxx and all that.

Now I just scoop up the leftovers into a plastic box and save for later. No waste. No waist.

Sure

Its a huge and I mean huge subject, join this forum and read everything. I’ve been a member for years, since I was diagnosed with mercury and lead toxicity, and even if I fast for days…my belly just doesn’t go.

Its well know mercury disrupts everything from mitochondria function and energy functions to mineral and hormone transport, in turn creating a whole raft of physiological effects, and illnesses never associated with mercury or lead etc.

There are some really switched on moderators who, if you have amalgams will answer all your questions. Its a deadly serious forum, most definitely not amateurish.

Interesting!!

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the response. I have not heard of this…how do you get tested for this? And what would be the remedy (if any)?

I will check out the forum when I can.

Thanks

The usual way forward is a hair test to doctors data.
However even then mercury may not show up directly (it doesn’t show in blood/urine as it’s requested in tissues and cells)

Therefore it’s presence is determined by it’s effect on other minerals etc. in the body.

There are what’s called counting rules, laid out in the Andrew Cutler protocol that indicates the presence and extent.

This is the tip of the iceberg. It may/may not be for you, that’s your decision.

Personally for me I did it.
