I don’t allow my kids fruit juice full-stop. They are allowed water jeje. On very special occasions they can drink and eat what they want. Birthdays etc. Carbs like rice, bread and pasta, they can go to town as long they eat their veggies. The other rule we have is …Delaying gratification …Always eat what you least like first…So that’s normally veggies first, then refined carbs and finally meat.
My first KETO discussion (argument) over dinner
My sons are grown but I would have fed them a lot differently if I’d know about keto. Not a keto diet for them, but no processed foods or juice. Whole fruit? Yes.
That being said… once they go to school you don’t have as much control over what they eat. My oldest was a vacuum cleaner and anything the other kids had in their lunch they didn’t want to take home and be questioned about why they didn’t eat it… my son took care of their problem!
It really is fascinating.
I’m the only living diabetic on my side of the family; not much pressing need for keto other than personally. Within my wife’s family, there is a pretty good level of awareness, and my mother-in-law, who reversed Type 2 diabetes, lost weight and got off all medication for it. The biggest challenge I face is with my wife - she’s quite the sugar addict. She’s okay metabolically, thus far, but I’m sure problems are coming, and I’d hate to wait for an official diabetes diagnosis to see her make changes. Of course, that’s what it took to get me to face facts.
How is this relevant to the discussion? I believe male gynecologists exist, somehow.
My all-time favorite ob-gyn was male and he retired a few years ago. He was such a good doctor! Always had time to listen to me and was so thoughtful and caring. Warmer than some women ob-gyn’s I’ve had! Empathy isn’t gender-specific.
I’m not sure how I’m going to recover from this devastation that you and all your like-minded cohort have inflicted upon me. I’ll try though, in between dropping in here to mislead and confuse people while arguing with them.
But, in the meantime while I try to recover from the above carnage, how about you answer the question? All you’ve done is make an ad hominem attack on me in order to avoid the opportunity to explain the rationale you were asked about.
If nothing else, I’ve managed to allow you to feel morally superior TWICE now. Although I guess that’s your default state.
So at least I’m achieving that, right?
I guess you don’t get to many other threads than the ones you’ve created, given your above stuff. I suspect I know why.
Also, you STILL haven’t answered the question. Go right ahead, anytime.
Also, that quote indicates a SERIOUS misunderstanding of how the internet operates, and always has. Starting a thread in a public forum is in no way analogous to owning it.
I would love to see that evidence. One of the things I love about these forums is Carl’s and Richard’s commitment to the science. It’s also what attracted me to the lectures of Dr. Phinney and others and got me eating this way. In contrast to a number of vegan lectures I’ve encountered, LCHF/keto researchers always provide references to the studies on which they base their understanding.
Talking over people and being excited is a good substitute for references. #thingsilearnedfromjoelkahn
Oh, I just saw the edit.
LOL, I’m pretty sure a whole lot of Americans are glad that intelligent people don’t judge an entire country on the basis of one person, be he a president or an internet troll.
Also, we started as a convict colony, so we ALREADY had a bad name.
What are you guys talking about? I have always had great respect for the Land of Oz.
(Now, where did I put those ruby slippers? They’ve got to be round here somewhere!) `
Yep, we Americans did vote a troll into the White House. Please don’t hate us (more).
This isn’t your thread so WTF are you talking about? Some other thread you started and think you “own”? Hitting the beers again?
Mic is no troll. Get a grip.
He’s one of the most straight forward, honest, no beating around the bush types here. I appreciate him being here.
I really like Australians. I have a 2nd cousin who married one, and have played internet games with many of them - the timezone difference greatly facilitates some things. One thing that has struck me is that they have good senses of humor.
