So I watched a couple of stellar videos by Dr. Rhonda Patrick interviewing Dr. Satchin Panda about his research into the impact of eating on the circadian clock and how the circadian clocks (yes, plural) in the body synchronise in the body.

I was IF’ing within a 8 hour window before, but shifted my eating window more towards the morning, finishing eating by 6pm. 2 weeks in I’m finding it very useful - sleep better, and weight loss has been good this last two weeks. It’s a slight adjustment to routine but seems to be quite effective.

For those who are shift workers this topic may be of particular interest.

Why is the macro cycle daily? Why can't it be every 3 days, 5 or 7?

When I jump timezones, I fast until the evening meal to reset my body clock to local time. It works really well, even when jumping 8-10 timezones!

As I recall Rhonda said she sets her window because she does not want to give up her morning coffee. I guess if there was ever a great reason, that would be one  Then I recall one podcast where the guy she was interviewing told her coffee was not going to be an issue breaking her fast - she seemed to like that answer, guess it just depends on what you believe

I think it depends more on what you are trying to achieve. Dr Panda is focusing on cyrcadian clock setting so is limiting the activation of digestive enzymes to a ‘time restricted feeding’ block. Whereas Dr Longo is looking specifically at a fasting mimicking diet (calorie restriction) - using it specifically for cancer treatment - fasting in this way increases autophagy. For him black coffee doesn’t impact on autophagy and so he doesn’t limit it.

Or that is how I remember it.
