Migraine/ Urge for Candy

#1

I’ve been doing so well. Being totally new to this and sticking with it. That was until last night. I get bad heads/migraines, and one was coming on last night. As a result i did what i always do and took a Maxalt and had cup of tea with Sugar. I figured i had some wiggle room as i was below 20g for the day.

Anyway the tea lead to more candy (which the wife brought into the house yesterday) and now i feel bloated and guilty as hell. My last piece of candy was 5 hours ago, and i just did a strip test and it still shows a low amount of ketones being flushed out.

Did i ruin all my hard work i have done and need to start over? Or is the presence of ketones still a good sign for me? I’m really mad that due to my bad head i fell into my old way of thinking and reached for sugary tea, which led onto further candy.

I guess i can use it as a lesson learned regardless. I am actually from England who was bottle fed sugary tea from birth…lol, and i moved to the United States in 2004. Having drank tea with milk and sugar for 44 years im suprised i haven’t craved it more.

Habits just don’t go away it takes time. Don’t sweat the small stuff just Keto on you will develop new Keto habits

#3

The small stuff was a “big stuff of candy” for me last night…lol. But i understand what you mean and i will do just that

I ate a Huge Carmel Apple today because I didn’t want it to goto waste :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Old Habits Die Hard

With IF/EF Keto WOE it’s no big deal It’s just a good excuse for a 48 hour fast

#5

How long have you been doing Keto? Im trying to do the OMAD thing, as with my body clock schedule it just seems easier for me.

(Dan Dan) #6

I have found it fits my lifestyle the best

Everyday is a feast with OMAD

It“s easier to make one meal and keep good macros :muscle:

I quickly fat adapted with OMAD :star_struck:

Keep calm and keto on as “dudes” say. If you really want that sweet in your tea, explore the variety of sweetners that are out there and see which one might work for you. While I have mostly given up sugar in my coffee, sometimes I add a few drops of stevia or a spoon of swerve. More of a weekend treat, not a daily thing-I don’t want to ignite a sweet habit.

#8

Do these numbers seem OK? Bearing in mind im doing OMAD of course.

#10

I have tried Stevia but it tastes :face_vomiting:

I find the liquid one, livable. Swerve and monkfruit adds a sweeter flavor.

Start here 5% carbs / 25% protein / 70% fat

This way a pound of fatty meat will get you 50% to 60% of your fat and you only have to add a few table spoons of butter/fat to your meal :grinning:

and a pound of california mix veggies or 5 cups salad greens or mix salad (add butter/fat here)

A pound of fatty protein (meat, cheese, poultry with skin or combo) and a pound of carbs (veggies, greens or combo) with a few table spoons of butter/fat (4 to 6) and you will have perfect macros :muscle:

I appreciate the info and will make those adjustments. Im not a big veggie guy. Most i can stomach are lima beans and broccoli, both slathered in butter and salt, otherwise they may just go straight into the garbage…lol

Actually i have never ate veggies in my life until trying Keto. Mr Meat and Potato man here. Which suprises me as i am actually fairly healthy as things go. Blood work has always been good. Blood pressure always hovers around 120/70.

Im 6ft and 210lbs and not chubby looking. So yeah i am suprised my body isnt freaking out more with this drastic diet change im putting it through. Thank you again. You have been a tremendous help.

I’m with ya Stevia, yuck. Read lots of review. Bought 3-4 types of Steva… Well reviewed. Yuck. Have monk fruit on order though. Fingers crossed

#15

Hmmm never heard of monk fruit. Maybe i can get your thoughts once you have tried it?

(Dan Dan) #16

no Lima beans

Try roasting veggies in butter or with cheese sauce or full fat ranch its the only way I can eat them

the veggies are important so you don’t get a fatty liver

#17

What’s up with Lima Beans? I’m 44 and never touched a vegetable until now and yet my liver tests are fine.

(Dan Dan) #18

26 net carb per cup

if you want to know what is in your food just ask google on your phone

ask “how much carbs in 1 cup of lima beans”

then ask “how much fiber”

the subtract fiber to get net carbs

#19

I only have half a cup for a serving. Is that still a no no?

(Dan Dan) #20

once in while but 4 to 5 cups of veggies is best.

Dr Berg has the best videos about IF/EF Keto well worth watching

Damn that sucks. I just got used to eating those as well. I can’t think of any other veggies i may be able to stomach off hand. I guess i need to do more exploring.
