Menopausal and need to lose 10-20lbs

#1

Hello,
I’m 43 and menopausal. I have always been skinny, but menopause is kicking my ass. My starting weight was 129. I’d like to get down to my original weight of 115 - 118.
I’ve been on Keto for about 3 months now and been able to get down to 123, but now keep gaining and losing the same pound. I’ve started going to the gym (strength training) and doing core exercises at home.

I’ve been reading lots of posts of people being able to drop a significant amount of weight on this WOE. I understand because I started out with a more healthier weight this wont be possible for me.

Is it just going to take me MUCH longer to get rid of this last 10lbs because I’m so close (like a year or more)? Do I just need to keep chugging along and continue to follow my macros (<20g carbs, 62-70g protein, 113-117g fat) or do I need to change something?

Thanks!

You might try doing some intermittent fasting…give ya a little push.

At this point, physical measurements may tell a better story than your scale. It’s possible your losing inches while maintaining muscle which is why you’re not seeing a change in the scale.

Try moving to OMAD (One meal a day) or/and drop your fat macro’s for a few days. As you have been keto for 3 months your body should easily be able to access your fat reserves for fuel.

Switch it up, keep the body guessing, fast for a few days then feast for a few more.

Early days yet, but it will happen. I also started just as menopause kicked in and it took 8 months to get to my target weight (15 lb loss). A long period in th middle where I kept gaining and losing same 5 pounds. Don’t know which of the below was the determining factor - or if it was just time - but here’s what I did:
Gave up sweeteners
Stopped having cream in coffee
Cut back on alcohol to no more than 3-4 drinks per week.
Now at 22% bf and finding it easy to maintain. Patience and small tweaks! Good luck

I’d go a little less protein. I weigh twice you and eat the same amount of protein. Skip breaky and do a BPC. Eat the same amount of calories though. Still might take a few months but that will help.
