Meal Prep Exercise and Vitamins?

(Olivia Cook) #1

Hello everyone,
I am new to the group and would like to talk a little about my meal prep and exercise. I am currently trying to get into Ketosis. I want to make sure I am taking the proper steps. I meal prep once a week for my husband and I. It works out best for mean because I am taking 5 college classes and work 30 hours a week.

My meal prep consists of:
(Lunch) Turkey and Sausage Alfredo w/ Zucchini Noodles – 300 calories/ 6 grams carbs/ 20 grams fat/ 26 grams protein
(Dinner) Cauliflower, turkey, sausage, Alfredo, cheese, broccoli- 500 calories/ 8 grams carbs/ 28 grams fat/ 26 grams protein
(Lunch) Turkey Burger wrap (cheese, Dijon mustard, iceberg lettuce and patty) 308 calories/ 1 gram carbs/ 8 grams fat/ 22 grams protein
I check all of my labels and have become a little obsessive of the entire diet. I love to cook so I don’t mind new recipes. I am also intermittent fasting for about 15 hours a day.

Exercise
My exercise is 4 to 5 days of hour long HIIT work outs. I also lift weights and do some cardio. I have lost 22 pounds on my own and want to see how much weight I can lose while on the Keto diet. I am willing to make this a life style change for 3 to 6 months out of the year if it is effective. Am I working out enough? I am also a server and stay very active at work.

Vitamins
I have picked up some Flax-seed to put in my plant based protein shakes. I have also bought L-Arginine and Omega-3. Am I missing anything?

The meals appear to be low in fat. Have you tried increasing fats to help you get fat adapted?

(Olivia Cook) #3

@Fiorella No I haven’t. How much fat should I eat per meal?

The idea is to push your body into fat adaptation. A good starting point is 70% or more of your calories from fat. And don’t worry about limiting your calories. Start with 20 g carbs total and between 1 to 2 gram protein per kg lean body mass.

Welcome. Yes, do eat fat to satiety. You don;t need to eat a fixed amount, just make sure you aren’t hungry.
