MCT oil disaster?

(Benito Fernandez Torres) #1

First post and great group. Am I missing something? Why there is no warning on labels about how MCT oil will melt a styrofoam cup? I poured myself some coffee and sat it down on my coffee table along with my wallet, some magazines and headphones. After a few minutes, I looked at the coffee table and there’s a lake of coffee! 16 Oz of it. Melted right through the bottom. :weary:

All oils melt them I think.

(Jay Patten) #3

Lesson learned, lol.

(Benito Fernandez Torres) #4

They do? But it’s used a lot on the food industry and take outs from restaurants. Aren’t those oily enough? I’m going to test it later but don’t want to waste my expensive MCT oil on that. lol!

The fine print on the label does state that it should only be served in a typical breakroom titanium plated carbon fiber vessel. Who has ever heard of a styrofoam coffee cup? You can hardly expect the company to anticipate that someone would put coffee in something as exotic as styrofoam! :yum:

Ha ha ha!

(Janelle) #7

I really thought this was going to be another type of “disaster” LOL

:+1::+1::+1:

Disaster Cup > Disaster Pants

I love me some MCT oil, but there should be two big red lettered warnings on every container

 1. Do not drink in styrofoam cup; ceramic or metal containers only
 2. For first week, do not drink more than 25 meters from restroom

OMG No
shit
! (haha pun intended). I learned this the soft way :wink:

(Full Metal KETO AF) #11

Oh I so needed this right now!..
@1Lorena1. An MCT oil spill?
:laughing::joy::poop::nauseated_face::joy::rofl::grin::blush:

I’d give @Benito a couple more :heart:‘s if I could for creating the thread and getting the next few posters off on their twisted humor. :cowboy_hat_face:

(Benito Fernandez Torres) #12

Haha! Well thank you! I didn’t get enough :heart: for Valentines :weary::joy: On a positive note, the room where the spill happened now smells like Starbucks :laughing:

Styrofoam cups are toxic!!

Me too. :+1::+1::+1:

How is it that all newcomers get sucked into chugging oil and buying pee sticks? Who keeps recommending this?

(Allie) #16

I suspect other newbies who do it and think they’re doing the right thing.

(Chris) #17

Probably, but I think there’s also likely a large sphere of easily-accessible “expert” websites and news articles out there that still tout it.

(Mel Simpson) #18

I use it to stave away cravings and to get back on track.
There is definitely a place for MCT oil

(Chris) #19

Nutrient dense food would go further to stave off cravings.

(Lorena) #20

I’ll speak for myself. When I wanted to research Keto nearly all the “expert” websites recommended both. Of course they also sold both which is also part of the problem. I fell into the trap. It wasn’t until I’d been eating this way for a month with not much results that I searched for Keto help or advice or something. That’s how I found this great forum! I wish I’d found this forum first. So now I have the oil and sticks and use them because I paid for them. The only “benefit” I’ve found from the oil is that if not careful it cleans me out! :poop: If that’s a benefit because I have to be housebound until the fun stops.

(Mel Simpson) #21

Not for me
