May 2017 Zornfast 18-21

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #1

This month’s group fast.
May 18-21st.
I started practicing monthly fasts last February of 2016. I still gain great benefit.
Zornfasts are normally the third week of each month.
Join if you’d like, we’ll support each other here.
I always do a water fast. (water/ black coffee & tea). The definition of a fast is open to your interpretation and needs. Some will need to do a fat fast. There are benefits to that type of fast as well. I fast to target visceral (organ) fat and to promote autophagy. Fasting also releases HGH for muscle growth. I follow Dr. Jason Fung. Matter of fact, his book "The Obesity Code " is what started my venture into fasting a year ago. Because of the ketogenic diet I am no longer diabetic. Fasting managed to further improve my health dramatically since I have included it in my health regime. It has increased my insulin sensitivity.
You may want to include this drink during your fast (or some version of it). I drink 2-4 bottles a day while fasting.

A really extended fast: going for 46-days!
1st extended 8 day fast. That's it
8 Days into Keto, too early to start intermittent fasting?

I’ve got a pig pickin that weekend, so I’ll have to go late!

Not sure if talking pork or motorcycles…

(James storie) #4

Hahaha! It’s a southern thing involving g a lot of pork! You’re going to have one at ketofest, Carl has been calling it a pig roast. Same thing.

(Lauren) #5

I may join just to see how far I can make it. I’ve fasted before, but it’s been 10+ years. More curiosity and vague interest than need or want at this time.

I think I’m in this month. Just returning from Florida after two weeks (one for fun, one for work conference) and although I was keto all that time, I know my typical schedule was all {insert Zorn word here} up.

I’m in! I was going to start a fast on Monday, but I came down with a stinking cold on Wednesday! I’ll be ready to go by the 18th.

I’m in as well. My weight loss has been stalled for about 5 days and even though I know it’s a normal thing I’d like to give it a little push start. I’m also amazed that I actually feel really good when fasting. Not only physically but I love the feeling I get from realizing food is not controlling me. After 47 years of feeling that way it’s really nice to feel free.

I lurked in last month’s thread, so I think I want to go all in this month’s fast. I did a couple of fasts, a 2 day and then a 3 day fast. I enjoyed how I felt a lot. Will be fun doing this with a group.

NO SHIT right? That’s why I’ve only missed one scheduled fast these past 15 months plus I added in a few extra. This will be my 17th fast. I’m starting to do spontaneous fasts as well and feast/fast cycles.
I don’t just love the feeling of realizing food does not control me…

I really really love it a wholefucking lot. Like, fasting has become a normal part of my life. I look forward to them. I may start this one early, save on buying several groceries this week :smiling_imp:

I’m in again. I did great with last month’s Zornfast but didn’t manage so well on my own. I didn’t go bad with the keto, just couldn’t get into an EF. Obviously I need the company. Now it’s time to plan a little feasting before the fast.

(Joe Sullivan) #12

I’m in. This will be my first extended fast. I’ve been on a keto diet for over a year now and lately have been 16-8 IF. Due to schedule issues I’ll probably start early. Let’s do this!

(John Somsky aka KetoGrinder) #13

I’m in too. I’ve done a 36 hour fast before, so this will be my longest.

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #14

This is GREAT!! A lot of participants this time!

(What The Fast?!) #15

I can’t do it over Saturday but I’m going to try my first 24 or 36 hour fast on Thursday/Friday!

(Maria) #16

I am in. Same here with cold which I rarely get. My stomach is a mess from all the meds. Feel so crappy. Should b good to go by then.

(Linda) #17

I’m pretty new to this forum but been doing keto since September last year after losing 30kg on Dr Michael Mosley’s 800cal Blood Sugar Diet and knew that I had to find something to transition to for maintenance or else I would put it all back on like I have done many times before. Keto is definitely the answer!

I discovered podcasts and after listening to Jimmy Moore’s LLVLC, Keto Talk and Fasting Talk found the 2KetoDudes and now I feel like I’m ‘home’

I’ve been IF now for several months and love the idea of doing this as a team and being able to support each other along the way. My longest fast has been 60 hours and now I’m ready for this 72 hour challenge.

Bring it on!

(Cathy Schroder) #18

Count me in too. Last time I tried this my own I didn’t quite make it. Possibly because my husband kept frying bacon each morning!

(James storie) #19

Bacon will get you every time!

(Kristin Rogers) #20

Yay! I have been hearing all about Zornfasts as I catch up on the podcast and now I can do one! (New to the forum)
I will be a little off- sync as I have a trip with my son this weekend (taking him to see Hamilton in Chicago).
So I will start early and break the fast Saturday (bonus! Fasting is good for jet lag!)
Looking forward to having virtual fasting buddies!
