May 2017 Zornfast 18-21

Thanks @Adam, I actually breezed through it, but then I’m pretty single minded. I didn’t ever cheat and ate a lot of the foods over and over just to keep it simple. Luckily it led me to Keto and I’m still maintaining.

Am now 71 hours in, my longest ever. Walked 18km’s today with no ill effects, same energy as I normally have when I’ve eaten. Keto rocks!:grinning:

Hey guys, so i literally just posted lol but this is a first for me. My gut/stomach seems almost “hot”. I got a normal hunger feeling but then it seemed like my stomach got heated up, is this just my body literally feeling the burn lol? should i take my mag supp to curb the hunger a bit? Besides the weird stomach feeling and slight headache I feel fine!

Motivating - thanks!

Don’t feel bad, I did the same thing. It happens!

Okay . I’m in. My last meal was at 7 pm, so 12 hours in. I’m going to try to water fast this time. We’ll see how it goes.

Your choice. The feast/fast cycle isn’t an exact protocol, that’s the whole point. As far as a constant hyper caloric diet, that isn’t what was meant by feast fast either. Revving up your metabolism before fasting is the trick.
So, let’s say I know I’m going to fast Wednesday of next week (I’m not! This is an example).
I may feast for two days beforehand to rev up my metabolism. Eating hypercaloric speeds up the metabolism as the body goes into overdrive with the excess fuel, then, while its all revved up, you fast. The subsequent fast is entered into with your body primed at a faster metabolic rate. Bingo. More bodyfat burned during the fast.

Do you need to maintain a constant hypercaloric then fast cycle? No. I don’t feast hypercalorically after any fast. I’m not as hungry for several days after a fast. Less food satiates me.

I would say, pay close attention to how your body feels. There is no exact way to incorporate a feast fast cycle. No rules. It’s a pretty relaxed method, and that’s the whole point.

Change it up. Keep the body guessing. Don’t let your body settle into a routine or it will maintain it’s decided stasis. And weight. That’s it’s job. We need to trick it for its own good. Lol

I’ve not heard this helps, but caffeine curbs any hunger or empty feeling in my gut. Also, time helps. The longer you fast, the easier it becomes. Around hour 24 is most difficult for me, day two is pretty easy and I begin to feel euphoria, day three is smooth sailing, by day four (today) I feel I could fast forever.

Never get lax on your sodium supplementation and remember to hydrate!!!

@ReaperScoob

Try making KetoAide. It does have magnesium. Also sodium and potassium. I drink 2 to 4 bottles a day while fasting.

80 hours fasted and all is well.

#141

62 hours fasted. Loving this! So encouraged right now that I can accomplish anything.

(Lauren) #142

I’m 12 hours in, but it’s easy enough. I don’t usually eat breakfast anyway. Hoping to make 36 hours.

(Griffin Mekelburg) #143

Ohhhh I’m making this as soon as I get some Magnesium citrate! That looks awesome thanks so much!

#144

I had a few leg cramps last night so the first thing I did this morning was make some ketoaid.

(chris.coote) #145

420 hours into an extended fast and feeling great! I have used coffee with cream and bone broth with butter but never more than 2 bone broths a day and some days none. Lots of water of course, salt, daily vitamins, potassium and magnesium! Four days ago, I had a few olives (6) and some macadamia nuts (6) and did that two days in a row. Also, my birthday was 2 days ago and I took one small bite of a chocolate dipped strawberry but that was all. I found that it didn’t increase my hunger, nor did it put me out of ketosis. My ketones have been consistently running above 4.5. I thought I would stop my fast by now but just feel like I want to keep going. I’m visiting a friend I haven’t seen in many years on Friday and we were going to go out to lunch. When I told her I was fasting and that I would bring bone broth with me, she graciously said, “Let’s just meet at my sister’s house and skip the restaurant.”

I’m amazed at my energy levels and the ease of fasting. I have a family and being around food did bother me the first few days, but not at all now. It’s definitely more of a mental exercise than a physical challenge!

Best of luck to everyone. I intend to keep fasting through the Zornfast! .

I feel a bit late to the party but I’m at my 24 hour point now and doing great. I timed my fast really good so I was asleep during that first hunger wave. I need to pick up some more magnesium citrate today to make some keto aid.

Planning for a 72 hour fast but may go 96 if I’m feeling up to it. Making a sous vide pork roast this weekend so I don’t think I’ll be able to go much longer than that. haha :meat_on_bone:

DO TELL!!

(Griffin Mekelburg) #150

Don’t feel late, the fast starts today, just alot of us started early lol. I have the same goal of 72! Currently at 38 and is the longest I’ve ever done, it’s wonderful so far!

(MakinBacon) #151

38 hours in for me, and I feel great. It seems the more often I fast, the easier it becomes. My first couple of fasts were a struggle to get beyond 24 hours, and 48 seemed like torture. Now it’s so easy for me, I don’t really notice I’m fasting until I get to around day 4ish. And at that point, it starts to become a mental thing for me, rather than physical feelings of hunger. This time I’m going to try to break through that mental barrier and keep going until my body physically tells me I need to stop. I still have plenty of body fat on me, so I know I can go longer without much issue. I lost track, but this is probably my 10th or so fast going beyond 36 hours, and I think number 3 going past 100.
