Macro tracking apps

Can anyone suggest a good app to use to make sure I’m eating the right ratios whilst I’m starting out at all please?

Thanks

Is that a tracker, or just a calculator for computing macro goals?

Thank you, i was looking for one where I put in what I’m eating each day to ensure I’m eating the right ratio rather than what I need to eat, but it is very handy to know:)

Just a macro calculator.

Thank you I’ve just downloaded the completed.
I didn’t like myfitnesspal as it sends information off and if you don’t accept you can’t use the app.

If you have iPhone I use this
I find it really really useful, you can manually add information/use the scanner to scan the barcode or there’s a large list based on your country that shows you the foods and the supermarket/supplier. I’m unsure if you can get it for android phones etc.

I’m still not sold on Cronometer.

They all have their flaws.

Maybe I’ll just have to fast indefinatly so I don’t have to deal with tracking apps.

Thank you, that looks more simple to use than the cronometer… I’m on android and it’s free too

I’m a newby and have already gone thru a few apps that weren’t a good fit for me. I finally found KetoDiet. It made the macro circus more logical. The visual charts showing the calories from fat and from protein are helpful. I was confused at first trying to figure out the % of my calories from fat or protein.
It also has the ability to read a barcode and feed that into my diet planner, recipes and a macro calculator.

Cronometer is my choice of macro app, I even paid a $29 subscription so I can share my data with my wife, and access the smart phone app version.

I use Lose It! to track my macros. I also check blood ketone levels and there’s a note capability so I can also track that data. Under “Goals” you can set your Macros.

I’m in love with loseIT. Have been for 10 years. What do I use? Cronometer. It’s the only one I’ve found to track vitamins and minerals. I feel completely off when my potassium and magnesium are outta whack. It’s the only way I know to track it thus far.

I use the same app. If the android app is anything like the iPhone app, you may find the free version “limited”. I ended up using the paid version. Works for me. I learned how to use this one eventually and didn’t want to learn another one.

I have data in MyFitnessPal, dating back to 2011. However, thanks to this forum, I’ve switched to cronometer, and love it. Having said that, there’s much to be said for “lazy keto,” (no tracking) in particular for those starting out without personal guidance. For that matter, Dr. Westman is NOT a fan of tracking macros.

Cronometer

I agree with you for my first 17kgs I did lazy keto then I hit a wall and started going up in weight. Up until that point the only app I used was one for tracking my weight but I had to work out what was causing my stall so I used Cronometer to check my macros and found out where the issue was. Guessing is ok for a while but eventually you will need to check your macros or continue on the stall. My biggest mistake was not adjusting my macros as I lost weight, you do not need the same amount of calories to sustain your body at 115.4kg as you do at 135.1kg. As we all know macros are calculated on your height, weight and BMR, obviously your weight drops therefore your macros must change.

See, this is my issue…

I’m in Wendy’s ordering a Baconator sans the bun. Cronometer doesn’t have this in its database. Not without the bun. And how do I log it?
MFP does, and I’ve checked it compared to the nutritional information put out by Wendy’s.
It may not be exact, but it’s pretty close to their data.

This is why I’m not sold on Cronometer yet. The database is way too small.

I know MFP has bad entries, but if you learn what to look for and what to avoid, it’s at least there.

You could ask Wendy’s for a nutritional breakdown of all their products (or check their website) and create your own custom food item. That’s what I do if I cannot find a particular food item. Most supermarket food is labeled that way so its pretty easy to get this accurate. I bought the years subscription for $29 which allows me to share my custom list with my wife who does not have a subscription.

That’s not the best to be honest, you cannot tell me that those don’t have carbs. Actually if you click on the blue down arrows it will expand to show more details including carbs.
