Keto, take 2

(Anthony Smith) #1

So… I’m starting again. I was keto for the first 2 months of the year, then I had to switch jobs suddenly the first week of March, ended up with pneumonia the second week and spent the rest of the month recovering from it. So for four weeks I’ve been off the wagon and I feel terrible. I initially lost 35lbs and felt great, I want to be there again. I have about 200lbs to lose, and I want to be here for my wife and children as they grow up… I need support and motivation. Thanks for letting me ramble.

Good luck, Anthony. You have a rung up already - you know it works.

Welcome back

Sounds like you have more motivation than you realize. You have the benefit of knowing how shitty it feels like to go back to the SAD. As much as a motivation as the weight can be (I still have a couple hundred pounds to go myself), it’s the knowledge of how sick I’d feel if I gave into the Taco Bell drive through that keeps me from doing it.

Hope you’re feeling better now! You know it works so just get back on it, wishing you well.

Sometimes too many changes, is too many changes. Welcome back!!

Welcome back. You can do it.

Stress will do that! DAMN, cortisol! Glad you are back on the right road & let us know how we can help.

(Anthony Smith) #11

Thanks for the encouragement everyone, I’m the only one in my house doing this and when you live with 10 other people it can be difficult. Luckily no one is trying to sabotage me, they are encouraging but all the carbs are still close by.

Good for you Anthony! As people have said, you’re back on the right track. Starting a new job is very stressful, then to top it off with fighting pneumonia; not fun! I’m the only one on keto in my family too which makes it harder. My struggle is homemade chocolate chip cookies our daughters bake. I know it’s a mind game: I’ve realized “cheating” just isn’t worth being kicked out of Ketosis for a good two days. (Can’t just eat one cookie so must totally avoid!). Good luck to you!

Have keto friendly treats when they bake so you don’t feel deprived :yum:

Yes, I agree… I’m afraid they won’t taste anywhere near as good though! I’ll have to find the sugar free chocolate chips somewhere.
