Keto demand is blowing up!

(Running from stupidity) #41

Yeah, 2og carbs in the one bar. #SOKETO

Try “Whole Earth”.
Or buy a Vitamix - or similar.
One Vitamix costs about ÂŁ500.
One kg of Whole Earth peanut butter costs about ÂŁ6.
Cost of peanuts and packing and transport about three quid, so
ÂŁ500 / ÂŁ3 = 167
At 1kg of peanut butter a week (feeding family and friends and thinking of starting a small market stall) that’s three years.
But to he** with maths - it’s a very good machine - fantastic after sales service (I was sent a replacement jug/bowl all the way over here on the strength of a phone call) and you can make more than peanut butter - the smoothest, velvetiest soups ever.
(The trains are cancelled - I’ve a long commute with time on my hands!!)

Yes this.

I just saw this product this morning. It does not say keto or low carb on the packaging so its not actively being promoted as such but I still think it can be deceiving to those who think they are doing better by eating these healthy cauliflower pretzels and grab a few bags without even looking at ingredients or nutritional information.

#45

instead of selling the product, create a recipe book or if you have the time and inclination, start a blog for your recipes and share in that way… both could be more profitable with less investment in your time…btw I am a willing guinea pig if you need another taste-tester…

(Diane) #46

I agree. If you can develop good, replicable Keto baked good recipes, that DON’T end up wasting my ingredients, you would be ahead of 96% of the Keto websites out there!

(Frank) #47

This is the kind of crap that will give this movement a bad name. Ugh. More like this is more keto than what you’re eating right now keto crave bar. Terrible.

(LeeAnn Brooks) #48

I have a Vitamix and love it. But that doesn’t solve my problem of portion control when it comes to nut butters. :frowning:

(Kerin ) #49

Frozen dinners… Let me know.
Also, ready made baked goods.

(Kerin ) #50

Cane syrup though.

(Running from stupidity) #51

But it’s NON-GMO!

#52

I’ve not calculated (I’m at work), but how many grams of home made peanut butter to get 20 grams of carb?

(LeeAnn Brooks) #53

1 cup of peanuts = 12g net carbs.
I don’t know how much you would need to make peanut butter, but it shouldn’t change the nutritional makeup of the peanuts if you’re not adding any other ingredients beyond salt.

But youre going to get more peanuts per cup after its ground up and made into butter than just plain peanuts. I guess to compute it, you would take however many cups of peanuts you use originally x 12g carbs/number of servings you want to get out of the end product.

I have been known to save all my daily carbs for peanut butter and dark chocolate, eating zero carbs the rest of the day.

(Brian) #54

Good idea. I wish I had even the faintest interest in doing something like that. It just ain’t there. I know a few people do that and do it well.

Funny, there is no lack of taste-testers! LOL!!

#55

Looks like without oversight there are going to be products labeled “keto” that have over 20g of carbs. Is there going to be like a “keto alliance” or “2KD” seal to put on products?

#56

I can’t get my head around cups!!

But a quick Google finds:

Peanuts: 1 cup = 4oz = 110 grams = 12g of net carbs.

So if, one day, I want all my carbs (20g) in peanuts - as I can’t control my portion size, then

110g ÷ 12g × 20g = 183.3g

What a lovely dinner! A bit of extra oil, a little chilli powder and poured over eggs (as they don’t have carbs).

Yum yum.

My hope is they’ll notice how many buns are in the trash, and finally add “sans bun” to the menu!

(Mike Glasbrener) #58

:slightly_smiling_face:
Or an option to feed the cattle and pigs so they’ll be fattened up for the next visit.

#59

We recently went to a reunion where someone baked a pie inspired by a recipe for a paleo pop tart. My first thought was, why?

(TJ Borden) #60

I’ve done the exact same thing…but for beer
