Keto Costco Run

#1

Any Costco (or any similar warehouse store) shoppers here?

What types of keto friendly foods do you get in bulk there?

#2

Kerrygold butter, Avocados, Pellegrino, that’s about it for me, good luck!

Kerrygold butter, organic cheeses, veggies, they have good steaks if you aren’t picky about it being grass finished. They do have grass fed beef, organic chicken thighs, whipped cream, frozen veggies, almond butter, macadamia nuts…sadly nothing from the bakery :frowning:

I get Kerrygold butter, kerrygold dubliner cheese, thick cut bacon (Kirkland), parmesan cheese, Teton Falls sausages, almond butter, coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, organic cacao powder, avocado, spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, romaine lettuce, cucumber, brussel sprouts, ground coffee, pink himalayan salt, macadamia nuts, rib eye, pork belly, sardines, canned tuna.

#5

Nice! I ask about Costco specifically because my SO does the grocery shopping from the regular grocery store and I handle the Costco runs.

Do you guys get any snack foods (like beef jerky / slim jims)? You know, quick things I can throw in my lunch for work.

#6

Ooh I forgot the organic broccoli and cauliflower rice, so good and convenient.

(Erin Macfarland ) #7

Salami, string cheese, hard boiled eggs, and nuts are all good for snacks. I have also seen avacado oil recently at ours and if you drink alcohol the Kirkland bran red wines and spirits are excellent (keto friendly spirits of course.) La Croix water is cheap too, also forgot almond flour if you do any baking with it, avacado oil, olive oil, seafood…

(Sheri Knauer) #8

Their beef jerky has sugar in it. I also get my pecan and walnuts there as well as avocado oil

(Sheri Knauer) #9

Oh, and mine did just start selling organic hard boiled egg. you can also find apple cider vinegar there and some costcos carry almond flour (not mine anymore). Also they have something called wholly guacamole. Small cups of guacamole with no non-keto ingredients. I find they are convenient to bring along on road trips and such.

What does a Costco sized portion of macadamia nuts cost ? $50 ?

(Beth) #11

I pay about $25 for a pretty good sized can for mac nuts at my Costco in Kansas City, the can is maybe around a pound in weight.
Sometimes they’re not the freshest. If not, they will take them back on return, no problem. In addition to the foods mentioned above, my Costco sells big tubs of organic coconut oil for $19 (best deal anywhere!) and cases of organic coconut milk. Other snack ideas I buy there: kalamata olives, prepackaged prosciutto/salami/cheese. Last time I was there they were also selling those prepackaged packs of nuts & cheese cubes. My husband loves those.

(Sheri Knauer) #12

Yes! Forgot about the olives! I get the kalamata and the queen. My costco sells a 1.5 pound container of macadamia nuts for like $17.

(Sheri Knauer) #13

Well, about $0.71 per serving.

Lots of good stuff here, I supposed I’ll compile a shopping list now

(Jennifer) #15

Almond Flour, baby bels, cheese and more cheese. Meat and more meat. Veggies, nuts, coconut oil. There is always something new.

(Jennifer) #16

$17-$18 in the mid-west.

I got some ideas from this article:

Some of my favorites:

  • wholly guacamole mini cups
  • cans of Lindsay whole black olives
  • Jones dairy farm frozen sausage links
  • La Croix (not super keto, but it is my weakness)

(Erin Macfarland ) #18

Ours has the really yummy royal Hawaiian brand 1.5 lb for $15. I bought it hoping I could pace myself and have it last a while…but I’ve been eating a couple ounces a day they are so good!

(Erin Macfarland ) #19

Cool article!

I don’t dare buy the organic peanut butter though because PB is my kryptonite… I’ll polish of the entire jar lol…
