I drink my coffee 2 ways. Either black with a little salt or I have it with half a TBSP of butter, 2 TBSP collagen powder, 1 TBSP MCT Oil, and salt. When I don’t drink it black, I blend it up until frothy using my immersion blender and a really big glass measuring cup.
Keto Coffee- What is the right way?
All food creates an insulin spike. Fat just has the lowest. So adding any significant amount of calories will beak a fast.
I’ve read anything more than 50 calories should be avoided during a fast. I stick to 20 myself.
But many BPC’s can easily top 250-400. It’s a small meal or a large snack, depending on how one makes it.
Aldi HWC is 1g carb per 2 tablespoons. Their H&H is 1g carbs per 2 tablespoons. As I don’t consume more than 2 tablespoons per day, I’d say I was pretty safe.
Fat in the beginning to keep me satisfied was great, and I still use fat, but no longer need as much fat. I’m burning the fat on my body instead. 70 pounds down and loving it! Thanks
Dumb question, but did you blend it? For those reading that may not know, you need to blend it or the oil and butter will just sit on top. When you emulsify it, you get a nice frothy layer on top. Like a fatty latte.
I don’t bother to blend my coffee if I’m only adding heavy cream. With the other stuff, that’s a different matter.
I love my coffee. Depending on the brew, I’ll drink it black. But my lifelong favourite ways to drink coffee is simply with HWC. If I’m home on the weekend sometimes I’ll froth some coffee with cinnamon, HWC and coconut oil, but that isn’t an every day occurrence.
Hold the phone!
ACV? In coffee?
I use ACV everyday. But it’s not getting near my coffee.
Sorry, yes same. Butter or oils I blend, hwc I don’t. Which is why I often just put cream in my coffee. I’m lazy.
i drink a medium black iced coffee from starbucks each day on the way to my morning run. so tasty. i used to load my coffee with flavored creamers and sugar to make it super sweet and that was the only way i liked it, but i slowly weened myself off all the sweeteners / sweet foods in general and now prefer it black!
How can you tell if your insulin has spiked if you don’t take a reading? Any natural indicators?
I wish I knew. The only thing I have to go by are what some of the doctors (keto aware that is) explain it that way.
I highly recommend Jason Fung, MD book, “The obesity code”. It’s not really about keto. It’s about why we get fat. The keto diet is mentioned a lot. As well as fasting, and what fasting actually means.
I am thrilled to say that I absolutely love Bulletproof coffee and this is the recipe I use. I am doing Bulletproof IF. I have two cups (8 oz. each) of Bulletproof coffee between the time I get up and 2:00 pm when I have lunch. I make sure to have dinner by 8:00.
I know technically it’s not fasting but I’m doing really well on this. I feel absolutely fantastic and I’ve lost 13.4 pounds in two weeks.
According to Dr. Ken Berry (Youtube) heavy cream and grass fed butter, coconut oil will not break fast.
Love dr berry and I watch all his content religiously but to say with 100% certainty that any specific food item will or will not have an effect on everyone is misleading I’d think. We all react differently depending on the level of damage that we’ve done to ourselves and individual food sensitivities. Ymmv with everything. That I can say with certainty. Self experimenting is the only way to know for sure.
it Also really depends on your definition of a fast and what the motivation is. Religious, weight loss, enlightenment, lower insulin, etc.
