Ketchup recipe anyone?

#1

I would like to make my own ketchup - no sugar, no sweeteners. I have found several recipes online but want to know if anyone has a go-to that they are willing to share. Thanks in advance.

I don’t know if they’re available online, but I use the one in the Whole 30 cookbook, and Well Fed by Melissa Joulwan. One of them calls for dates but I just leave it out.

I think you’ll have a difficult time with this. Ketchup is essentially a sweet and sour preparation of concentrated tomatoes. The sweet part will be hard to handle without sweetener of some kind.- even the concentrated tomatoes alone will contribute sugar.

That’s a great recipe but it’s Italian tomato sauce, not ketchup.

This recipe includes sweeteners in two different steps.

only person in our house that uses ketchup is our 12 year old, we just buy the reduced sugar kind, though must be careful some have fake sweeteners, the Kroger brand is just less sugar, i think by 1g per serving… he does not use it that much, though he’s 12 and will put it on his steak… Parenting fail?

“Even better than Heinz ketchup”
This recipe is highly recommended by other LCHF people. I plan to make some since it seems fast and easy enough. It does have 2 gm per tablespoon though, so won’t be able to drown my hamburger in it. I’m hoping to use it in my BBQ sauce recipe and other recipes to cut the ketchup carbs by over half.

Be sure to read the recipe to the bottom since she made some updates:
