Just completed a 7 day+ (187hrs) water fast!

I have wanted to do an extended fast since becoming aware of Dr. Fung and listening to the Obesity Code and the Complete Guide to fasting. I am a 61 F and have been T2 for at least 15 years. I have been keto for 7 months and lost a significant amount of weight but I have further to go. I have done a 104 hr fast and many shorter ones. At a certain point in keto I found my appetite was coming back. Fasting helps me get it in check! So, how did it go? Well, thank goodness I did not have commitments this week. I did not experience “I had so much energy”! I went on a 4 mile dam walk on Sat. It was early and cloudy and I did okay. Sunday we got a later start and it was Sunny. I made it across the dam but the way back was hell! Spent the rest of the day in bed. I feel as though I have not had the energy to do anything this week. But I made it and I am proud!

Hi @jean1! Can I ask what your results were in the seven days? What was the worst/best part? Thanks! I’m planning on my first seven day fast Monday

Yeah that hit me sometime later in week two.

It might also be a sign you need to cut your carb/protein intake and/or up your fat intake. Not sure on this but it’s what I suspect. Will experiment on muself when I break this fast.

The worst was by far the lack of energy. I also was fighting a pretty wicked headache on those days i walked. I feel as though i am very careful with water & electrolytes. I eat pink Himalayan salt, and supplement potassium and magnesium. The hunger was just cravings. I was not planning to evaluate the weight loss until Fri morning since you gain back once you resume eating. It was at least 10#s while still fasting and I hope I can keep a lot of it off, and keep my hunger beast under control for a while. Good luck! You can do it! Keep in mind my age and I live in a very hot and humid environment.

Oh yeah, I had to pick my tomatoes which smelled so very good!

I assume you mean when I am eating (keto)? I have been working on keeping my protein lower. Working is the key word in that sentence!

Yep, meant when you’re eating keto again that should help with the energy levels.

As for the two week comment, I meant two weeks into the fast that I’m on.

I think you should be able to mimic the energy levels of fasting by keeping the carbs and protein low enough and the fat high enough while eating ketogenic though.
