#41

This was a huge win for me, too! I’ve had post-nasal drip for 20+ years and sinus infections were just a way of life. It’s amazing being able to take a deep, full breath.

(Tammy Kidd) #42

Type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, high blood pressure and sciatica!

(Carol O'Carroll) #43

I’ll second the fatty liver.
Hypoglycaemic episodes,
Anxiety (didn’t even know I had :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:),
No longer hangry and my day doesn’t revolve around getting home to eat.
Snoring,
Asthma,
Egg sensitivity ( mild windpipe restriction, but can eat them again now),
No longer obese,‪‪
Water retention,
Mood more stable, calmer,
Less irritability all round,
Able to exercise happily,
Could also move more easily even when not exercising,
Brain fog has cleared (I swear I have 10 IQ points more at least),
Blood pressure normal,
Able to cope better with stress and less risk averse.

One of the best wins is be able to sit in a restaurant like a civilised human being. Not becoming anxious because the food hasn’t arrived within 10 minutes. The chemicals were very strong and made me very reactive to smells.

I liken leaving the carbs behind, to loosing teenage friends who enticed you to live at the pub. Not really your friends!

(Carol O'Carroll) #44

So, the increased fat fixed your gall bladder issue? Do you think it was anything else?

(Candice) #45

@carolo Fixed my gallbladder too. I cycled off Keto 2 or 3 months and started having gallbladder attacks again. Once I went back to Keto, no more problems. Will not cycle off again. Keto only for this girl.

(Carol O'Carroll) #46

Can I ask if you were low fat before Keto please?

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #47

I have. I don’t remember where another ketopian talked about this, but someone did.

(Candice) #48

Yes, I was low fat at the time.

(Carol O'Carroll) #49

Thank you.
I’m wondering about low fat and IBS/SIBO and if there is a connection…

(Candice) #50

I’m not sure. I haven’t had problems with IBS or SIBO. Hormonal problems - definitely. Hope someone can give you more info!

(Candy Lind) #51

You stopped getting them? Or they go away? I haven’t noticed a change but would LOVE this to happen for me!

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #52

Many people have had them shrink and drop off on keto.

#53

Huh. I had no idea. My bf is very overweight and has dozens and dozens of skin tags all over his shoulders, arms, and upper back. I wonder what his A1C is.

(Candy Lind) #54

REALLY?!? Anyone know why? Guesses, even?

(Michel Labelle) #55

A bit of the cure came from being on Keto for sure, but definitely the regular inclusion of Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon juice in water multiple times a day are what cured the shoulder pain. I now add bile salts once a day with dinner (when eating).

15 years of chronic pain and headaches pretty much gone in the space of a few weeks, and finally an ability to get deep restful sleep, as the shoulder no longer wakes me. Toss in that the weight loss means I no longer snore (according to my wife), means the benefits are multiplying.

And while weight loss, relief from inflammation etc are all positives, Keto for me is now 100% about that pain management, and regaining my life.

Give that a try and see if this is an N=2!

#56

Hi Michel, this is really interesting. Can you say hw much ACV and lemon juice you’re using per cup… or roughly per day?
Might give this a whirl! Used to drink it every morning in hot water but over time I fell out of the habit.

Thanks

I would guess that either the chronic high glucose prior to Keto was fueling the fungus, or general improvements in immune system functions allow the body to fight the condition.

What the Ketogenic Diet has done for me personally, roughly in order of occurrence.
*Joint pain disappeared
*sound sleep
*constant hunger disappeared
*depression disappeared
*25 lbs of inflammation/water weight came off
*digestive system became calm
*sinuses cleared, mucus production minimized
*menstrual cycles regular, less painful, less heavy
*hypertensive no longer
*fingernails became stronger, grew faster
*skin all over became butter soft
*skin on face became smooth
*sense of smell/taste increased
*coloring improved on face dramatically
*eyesight improved
*thinking became much clearer
*grey hair stopped growing in
*more weight loss finally occurred, 50 lbs (year two)
*began to see bone structure: collarbones, ribs, knuckles, face, ankles
*fell in love with weight lifting
*libido kicked in like crazy
*started fasting, comfortably
*heart rate slowed from 115 resting to 80/90
*heart arrhythmia occurrences decreased
*discovered incredible muscle strength
*began building lean mass
*discovered intermittent fasting
*no longer hungry for 3 meals a day and snacks
*discovered extended fasting (record is 10 days)
*A1c 5 (from an all time high of 12)
*Triglycerides 90 (from an all time high of 1200)
*T2DM diagnosis taken off my medical chart

*Keto has also caused me to GAIN incredible new close friends whom I love, enabled me to do crazy things at age 54 such as riding my bike from Minnesota to KetoFest in Connecticut (fasted!), and secure meaningful employment in this grassroots movement to UNFUCK the world!

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #59

I’ve been ketogenic four years now.
Total weight lost on this journey, 100 pounds.
Total prescription medications I ditched, 5.

No medication at this time.
