Isn’t Keto awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Cured my carbage addiction. Best result ever. Cause that takes care of current and future issues.

7 months keto here - 59 years old

  • age spots flaking off and disappearing.
  • Rosacea on face much better
  • cellulite disappearing
  • blue spider veins fading from my legs
  • never hungry anymore and skip meals easily
  • no more shakes from blood sugar crashes
  • Hubble says I look younger
  • down 27 lbs and feel great!
  • skin much softer and chronic chapped lips gone (I credit the Kerrygold in my coffee)

Husband

  • sinus headache gone
  • joint pain much better
  • skin tags shrinking
  • last eye exam his eyes improved and got a weaker prescription

I know a lot of skin improvements but that is the easiest to observe and a direct reflection of my inner body health. I hope and assume there is just as much healing going on inside my body I can’t see. Was never diabetic so nothing dramatic like some of you guys. Now I never will be!!!

After 12 months

70 pound gone
Diabetes 2 gone
High blood pressure gone
Heartburn gone
Back/leg pain gone
Dry cracked feet gone
Double chin gone
Spider veins reduced
Skin tags have shrunk
Energy has gone up
Mood has improved
On my 3rd wedding ring as others dropped off
My feet shrank and shoes don’t fit
Bath towel wraps completely around me
I fit in the bathtub without my butt touching both sides, and causing a tidal wave when I move!
Sex life has improved (Hubby also doing KETO)

Negatives:

  • Replaced all my jeans twice now. Size 14 to 10.
  • Boobs sagging more. Lost fat in them but main thing I don’t have the “fat shelf” underneath to prop them up!

I am salt n pepper gray with the back lower part of my head being still light brown. I was noticing the other day that some of my roots are coming in that same color even with silver starting at about an inch and a half out.

I’m about 4 months into keto, lifting, cardio, walking and less frequent eating (from 35 to 12 times per week). It’s not obvious that any of these are soley responsible for any changes. One confounder is I’m 69 but I doubt that is a big influence on progress or lack of. I think 75% of the beefits of all the fringe diets is what they have in common, getting rid of processed food in favor of real food. Honorable mention goes to the internet and youtube. I’ve learned A LOT in a short time listening to the lead proponants of all the diet options.

On the plus side so far.

Noticably calmer all the time.
Big boost in self esteem
face looks younger
20 pound weight reduction from the edge of overweight to noticably lean 144 lbs.
Waist size from 34" to 31"
acceptable physic with a long way to go
Blood pressure trending down while it bounces between elevated and normal
A sore left hip (30 years) improves on 30 miles a week of walking
Long time sore shoulder getting stronger and complaining less

There is one important problem. My energy for lifting is noticably limited. I suspect my body is happy to use fatty acids for aerobic work but not so happy to replenish glycogen for more intense work. In cardio sessions my quads are on fiire for the first 20 minutes, even with easy breathing, then the session gets steadily easier. I suspect the backwards change happens when the muscles finally start using fatty acids. Perhaps this logic is wrong so please correct me if you know better.

For now I am lean and fit. That’s an unusual combinations, these days, in someone my age. It’s fun but I want to be leaner and fitter.

Wow, keep us posted on this development. I refuse to do grey, I look awful with light hair period. I was a copperhead and color to stay that way. Would be nice if my hair came in that color again.

Take a look

This is such a great thread!

I have not a long list. I started keto to lose weight and waist circumference. That was easy to achieve

I’m still on .75mcgs of Levothyroxin but I only just learned that I am likely not getting the right thyroid blood testing done by my GP. I look forward to quizzing her in this regard and seeing what the trace hormone levels are.

I’m about six months in and have noticed marked improvements in my skin elasticity and appearance. This is just a bonus, right?

Here’s the biggie for me. I suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2005. As a result, I frequently had bouts of dizziness and my sense of smell was reduced to only a few items; including poop and coffee of all the bizarre things. Today, I haven’t had a dizzy spell since starting this plan and I can smell things that I haven’t in 13 years, like roses and barbecue and my husband(mmmmmmmmmmm, yeah, delicious) sorry, I got distracted

That’s another one! My libido is way up! I’m menopausal and have had very low drive for several years but now…ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr :heartpulse:

What wonderful results. So glad you found something to help with your dizzy spells and not being able to smell things.

Everything else is just icing on the cake (low carb buttercream icing and cake, of course)

OMG went and saw my neurotologist (ear specialist) this morning. Been on Keto for 16 months now. And believe it or not my hearing has improved 10-15% at certain sound waves. I’m Ecstatic! I’ve never had improvement, been mostly deaf in my right ear since a young age. The doctor credits it to removal of inflammation from my body. This WOE is awesome! No garbage leads to better eyesight, gums are better, no joint aches or pain, healing my liver and now better hearing. And I have medical proof of all of it - labs, tests and such. I am simply amazed and oh so happy. Keto On everyone!

T2D
Obesity
Hypertension
Libido (@54yrs young)
Overeating
Allergies
Snoring
Superpower of Fasting - cures hunting for food at awkward times
Feeling of control over body’s trajectory - mass wise

For my SO
softer skin - and many of the above.
She is waiting on reduced arthritic pain and bunion relief…

(I presume this list is only for those things that we personally have experienced)

Nope. You can list anything you know of, or even anything that you read about I want it all

I am a newbie and have been on keto for about 3 weeks after watching The Magic Pill on netflix. That opened my eyes to the dangers of sugar and grains that I was eating daily. I have asthma and was shocked that it has been greatly reduced. Where I used to use my inhaler daily I now only use it maybe once a week. And yes, flatulence has really diminished. I may be an old fart (66 y o) but I don’t have to sound like one!
Everyone of you has been an inspiration to me and I thank you.

I have an update!

A NEW thing. I used to have horrible pain in my upper legs. It just deveoloped one day ‘out of the blue’ and it was so intense that I could not even skim my skin with my fingertips much less actually put pressure on my flesh or I would crawl out of my skin with pain. It was awful and it lasted at the same intense level for a good 2 years. It very very slowly diminished over another 3 years… so 5 years and I learned how to avoid anything touching my legs at all. Showering, getting dressed… all a horrible experience every day. I had to learn how to get inside my car differently because it bumps the legs. I had to learn how to sleep on one side of my body and never turn over… I was a wreck, and it was a greusome existence. The doctor had no clue what it was or what caused it. I think it was a vascular issue and/or neuropathy. I gave up exercise around 9 years ago because of this pain.

I’m elated to say that yesterday I actually jogged to try and outrun a rain cloud during my lunch time stroll, and I didn’t even notice that my leg didn’t hurt until 10 minutes after I had stopped running. You guys, I could not even walk for exercise for so many years until recently. The pain has rescinded but I was still afraid of the pain the jiggle of running caused. I have been walking and doing yoga for 6 months, but I avoid that one leg still. One leg is still painful, but you have to apply pressure to feel it. So running with no pain, and you know how much jiggle that produces!, was like a miracle. I’m now going to start training for my first 5K!!!

And in other news, my A1c is now down to 6.2, and I’ve lost 30 lbs so far.

(Jane) #197

Wow - I am so happy for you!

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #198

Keto is miraculous. Again. Happy for you! Very.

I have endometriosis, still too early to tell if there has been an impact. I will keep you posted.

Edit

  1. I had eye floaters in both eyes for years, they have completely disappeared from the field of vision.

  2. No longer suffer from insomnia, I now sleep a minimum of 4 to 6 hours straight every night, practically a miracle.

  3. No inflammation, regardless of the activity I perform. (I’m not referring to an inflammation disorder just general inflammation we suffer from doing strenuous tasks or activities. I have yet to wake up with aches and pains.

(Jeanne Wagner) #200

Yes please do! I’m guessing it may help. When I got into my late 30s I started getting crippling menstrual cramps. ALL my life I had never had ANY cramps until then. Now they’re gone again, and that only happened after I started Keto.
