Jack Sprat

There’s lots of old school material that points to the fact that people back in the day knew to cut carbs to keep weight down, but did they just do low carb + low calorie?

I was thinking about the Jack Sprat rhyme, and it kind of embodies the philosophy of “eating fat makes you fat” – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Sprat

Also was thinking it would be fun to come up with a modern keto version of the rhyme:
Jack Sprat ate lots of fat
His wife ate Lean Cuisine

Funny… That rhyme came to mind earlier this week. I like your updated take on it.

I’ve often thought that my husband and I are a bit like Mr and Mrs, Spratt, but the other way round. Although he wants to lose weight, the obstacles to him joining me on keto - or even a more moderate low carb plan - include his distaste for such keto staples as: nuts, cheese, cream, avocados, mayonnaise, oil and vinegar.

Yeah, we’ve been over this.

Doh! That’s what I get for not searching! :spy:

Here’s my version:

Jack Sprat could eat no fat
So he died of rabbit starvation

Admittedly, it’s a work in progress…

(cracks knuckles)

Jack Sprat could eat no fat.
Bob Harper taught him deprivation.
He finally fit in Slim-Fit Prada,
Dead from that rabbit starvation.

Mrs. Sprat could eat no lean,
She ignored expert advice,
To eat butter at his wake
And in the end, looked very nice.
