Is my weight loss rate normal?

(Sandy) #1

Height: 4 feet 11
Start(3/1): 106.5 lbs Now (3/28): 101 lbs Goal: 92 lbs

I started keto for almost a month and have lost 5.5 lbs.
Is this normal weight loss? I expected to loss a little faster than this.
I need to reach my goal weight on or before mid-May ><

You lost about 5% of your body weight in a month. That sounds pretty good to me. Why do you need to reach it by mid may? [sarcasm] If weight loss is the goal, hacking of a limb is the fastest way to get there… [/sarcasm]

Just remember you are unique, just like everyone else.

I always liked that one. My point is that it is different for everyone. I lost faster than my wife at a rate of 20 lbs. over three months. I then abruptly stopped losing for three months and recently started back up. Your body may not have the same timeline as you do. You are not yet fat adapted but should be getting close. Stick with it and keep an eye on inches and pounds.

By your stats, you don’t have much body fat to spare, so it’s going to be very slow. But, why is your goal 92 lbs? That seems below a healthy range for your height. My guess is your body is probably trying to fight you like crazy over this goal.

(Sandy) #5

Because im going on vacation and bikini season LMAO

(Sandy) #6

Because I weighted lighter in my early 20s, lightest months only 87lbs.
I think 92 lbs was that perfect shape I had and trying to go back there.

Is 92 lbs not healthy? Im very short though LOL

(Full Metal KETO AF) #7

I lost 13 lbs this way, I wouldn’t recommend it. :rofl::confused::cowboy_hat_face:

(Ethan) #8

Weight isn’t the goal; health is. Obsessing over a number isn’t really useful.

(Sandy) #9

Trying to be slim and healthy at the same time.
I do exercise 3-4 times a week, 45mins each.

Thank you for the reminder of not focusing on numbers only :relaxed:

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I should clarify, I guess I can’t say it is unhealthy, because I don’t know anything else about you other than those stats. Technically, according to most “standard charts” (which we should be taking with a grain of salt anyway) it is on the low end, but not necessary below. How old are you? Hormones as we age play a role. Again, you don’t have a lot to lose, and your body, at your age, might disagree with your desire to be the actual number weight you were when you were younger. Not impossible, but it’s not going to go fast.

#12

That’s actually excellent progress. That would be equivalent to a 300lb person losing 15lbs in 28 days (5% of their body weight).

(Running from stupidity) #13

That’s the only bit most people are going to read. Tell them it only took an hour

You’re probably a lot like my daughter, just older. Your weight loss seems normal. Keto has an odd tendency to promote muscle growth in addition to fat loss, so I recommend that you use measure tape. Measure your bust, waist, hips, thighs. This will likely soon be what gives you the clearest indication of how you’re doing. Make your goal a body shape instead of weight.

And continue low carb when you get there.

Remember shape changes as we get older. I went up 2 dress sizes over the past few years and assumed I was putting on loads of weight. When I finally weighed myself a couple if weeks ago I discovered I am still the same weight as I was 10 years ago before I was pregnant!

I don’t know how much weight I’ve lost on keto, but I do know that my waist is 5" smaller, my bust and hips have also lost inches and I had to tighten the laces on my trainers this morning (was not expecting that!).

It might be that you get to that teenage shape, but at a different weight than last time.

You’re looking for a slim shape for your holiday. Well, it might not be where you want it to be, but it will be better than it is now. You’ll feel better, have more energy and be more confident and that is what people will notice, not that you’re a few lbs off your goal weight.

(Edit: weighed yesterday 3.5kg 7.7lbs down in 2 weeks)

I am 30 now.:relaxed:
I will start using the measure tape which i may see the result in a different way.:muscle:

The old life insurance charts say that for your height, a good weight range is 111-123 lbs. Remember that this is the weight range at which women of your height had the longest life expectancy, according to actuarial data from 75-100 years. It is not necessarily the range at which you will consider yourself the best-looking.
