Is max calories a must?

(Allan L) #21

Agreed.

(Miss E) #22

Well I’m averaging 70g of protein a day at the moment so I’m not reaching that anyway. I think that number is based on lean muscle but then more added due to the exercise.

(Miss E) #23

Do you mind me asking how much you weigh?

(Allie) #24

Men do need more protein though…

(Allie) #25

The basic recommendation I believe is 1g protein per kilo of LBM. I’m not sure it’s likely you have almost 300lbs of LBM  is it possible you made an error inputting the data?

(Mel Soule) #26

Tried their calculator and got the following

How much should you be eating per day?
147611 calories
16352 g fats
20 g carbs
91 g protein
Based on your inputs, we suggest you eat: 147611 calories. From those, 16352g fats, 20g net carbs, and 91g protein

Me thinks there is a bug in the software.

(Lonnie Hedley) #27

Me thinks you did something wrong. I just did a calculation and there were no issues. Numbers came out nearly identical to other calculators I’ve tried.

(Miss E) #28

The calculator didn’t ask for lean body mass it asked for total body weight and fat percentage. I input that I wanted 0.9 grams of protein.

(Miss E) #29

okay i think there must be a bug too because if i calculate 0.9g protein per kilo (not just lean muscle) it’s still way less than they recommended.

(Allan L) #30

Try this one:

Usually gives me the same results as the 1st I suggested.

You wouldn’t be classed as very active based on what you said above about not working many hours and those hours being low activity. Very active would be someone who has a day job and is always on the move as well as gym. Even when I do these things I only chose moderately active with my ten miles a day walking and gym most nights.

(Lonnie Hedley) #34

I work out every day (rest on Sunday), I’m on the go a good amount at work, and I still choose sedentary.

I make adjustments on choosing lose vs maintain and whether to have a deficit or not.

(Doug) #35

Man, you better get to chowing down…

(Miss E) #36

I’m a massage therapist so my working hours are relatively active but regardless I never choose highly active. I choose lightly active.

(Mel Soule) #38

@OldDoug Ain’t that the truth my friend. It seemed to calculate protein grams ok but I gotta get busy to chow down that many calories…LOL

(Miss E) #39

pounds or kg? :stuck_out_tongue:

(Pete A) #40

150 Lbs, sorry. Now that I’m to a workable scale weight I’m looking to lose remaining fat, and also thoughtful about how many calories I should be eating!
