Introducing EO4wellness

Howdy Y’all, I’m new here. I’ve been on another forum and had a friend there for several years and noted that she and I were having similar issues. Then one day, she mentioned great results from “keto” so I looked into it. Tried it right away (without too much research) and got the Keto Flu the first day so terribly that I stopped and was determined to do more research. In the interim, I discovered Dr. Jason Fung on YouTube and started doing some IF according to his research and ideas. Doing so, I immediately dropped and kept off 10 lbs. but didn’t really realize any other benefits.

Then I ran across Dr. Berg’s videos and it made a LOT of sense to me. After about a month of listening to different videos every day, I was ready to give it a try. I’m doing his method using IF (I am averaging between 18/6 and 20/4) and eating for nutrition while reaching my macros. Wow! The first thing I found out is I’d been potassium deficient for years and it was causing me major grief! I thought it was just age-related decline, but I was actually suffering needlessly due to potassium deficiency. My potassium intake was about 300 mg a day, on average, for more than a few years. Recommended is MUCH higher. Since starting Keto, I’m now averaging 2,000 to 4,000 mg of potassium and I’m sleeping better, aches and pains are gone–lots of changes. I’m also now getting enough vitamin D, calcium, vitamin C, B vitamins, magnesium and others.

Started doing Keto by Dr. Berg’s method at the end of April, 2018. It took about a week to get through that crazy craving stage–and now I’m not hungry. When I am, if I’ve eaten what I should and I’m still in my IF eating time frame, I enjoy some healthy fats. I’ve not had any negative side effects. I have dropped about 10 pounds, however, what’s more amazing to me is I’ve lost 15 inches! WOW!

I have a lot of food allergies which preclude me from eating a lot of things which others consider “normal” on this WOE. So I do most of my own cooking and eat whole foods to avoid additives, from the nasty chemical ones, to the ones I’m allergic to which are foods others enjoy. I’m currently listen to Mark Sisson’s discussion on the Keto Edge Summit and he made such an excellent point. He mentioned once you have accomplished the Keto Reset (like I’ve done–stick out 100% keto at least one month) that the mechanisms which your eating plan has put in place for being a fat burner (not just a carb burner) is going to help you for about a year (depending on your body type). This is one of my favorite thing to do–listen, learn, educate myself so I WANT to continue and add in new things along the path.

My friend from the other forum, recommend joining this one too as she is active here. Thanks @CandyLindTX

Kind of a “funny” update (also extremely serious). Today I started feeling like quitting. Had a really serious feeling (I’m emphasizing feeling) I should quit. I haven’t had any sense I should quit all along so this was a bit of a challenge. So I ran through the facts. No, I’m not hurting myself in any way. I had lots of facts and evidence to back up that conclusion. Plus, I’ve been doing this a month now and a few days. I’ve lost 9 lbs and 20 inches! I am 2 dress sizes smaller than when I started. Those are REAL results. So I decided I am not quitting no matter how I feel. After making that choice and deciding to have some fat, it then occurred to me I must be close to the next level with this–as so often in life, that’s when people quit–just before the “really good stuff” LOL!

Absolutely!!! You have come this far so why throw away all the previous efforts without reaping the fruits of that labor? Besides, what else could you do that would produce the rewards that you have already gotten in such a short time frame? Stay strong, it’s more worth it than you can imagine!:ok_hand::wink:

Exactly! It really is very funny, once looked at via logic instead of emotion. I was telling my neighbors about this earlier today as they asked me how I’m doing. We were having a great laugh at human nature being what it is–if you have an emotion, and hide it, it is more likely to rule your life. If you examine if it true or not, share about it, then you are more likely to over come it and go with logic instead.
