Interpreting Numbers on EF

(Mark Rhodes) #1

I am in hour 104 of an extended fast( coffee and water). Yesterday my BG went to a 41mg/dl which had me concerned but I felt fine so I didn’t eat and a BHB of 6.8mmol/L. Today 3 hours after waking I was 56 & 5.5. My assumption is that my free BHB wasn’t as free, it needed to be used and conversely I needed more energy so either gluconeogenesis or fat oxidation of triglycerides created the glucose.
My question based on this then are: If I could test blood fats would I see a higher level of triglycerides? I suspect these are what is being broken down for the amino backbone and the fat oxidation.

Thanks for any input, corrections or discussion.

Mark your probably on to something with your interpretation. I’ll be interested to see if anyone else smarter than me chimes in.
