Instant Pot in Australia and New Zealand

(Alistair Windsor) #11

As far as I can tell Amazon.co.uk will no longer ship this to New Zealand. Very disappointed.

#12

Hi @Alistair_Windsor I have just checked and it’s currently available for NZ shipping on Amazon UK… go go go!

(Alistair Windsor) #13

Thank you. I just ordered one successfully. Very strange. I had one in my cart and everything was good to go and then when I returned a day later after confirming details it would not let me check out. This time everything went through. Unfortunately I will now beat the instant pot to New Zealand by a couple of weeks but that is fine.

#14

Yep I’ve noticed that they are available for shipping to NZ and then next minute they’re not. Weird.

Glad you’ve got one on its way to you, the wait will definitely be worth it!

Amazon have a sale on today for Prime members (can sign up and cancel!)

Hi Clare, I’m in Aus & would love an IP but I saw another multifunction 6litre pot with stainless steel inside & wonder if it would be ok as it is currently reduced to $129AU
What should I look for to see if it’s worth while?

The reviews look promising from what I can see. The stainless steel pot would be far superior to any with Teflon so that’s a big plus in my opinion. It’s hard for me to make a judgment as that product isn’t available in my country so I haven’t been able to properly check it out. I would want to be sure that the sautée function/electric pot setting gets hot enough for searing. The other difference I can see is the instant pot 7in1 has the yoghurt making function. Only you can decide if that feature would be worth paying more for.
I guess if they have a good warranty or return policy that could sway your decision. The other thing to consider is that you can buy Instant Pot accessories via Amazon such as a spare sealing ring and other items such as a spare inner pot or a glass lid for slow cooking etc which you may find useful. Hope that helps!

Many thanks Clare, that’s a great help. I’ll have a think about which one will suit.
Cheers.

So gutted, can’t seem to get this shipped to Aus at all… amazon.co.uk will no longer ship here :(…
anyone else have any insight to where else might sell… ebay is also a no go as they are mostly american model or have P&P so high… i need this in my life… finding a countertop 8L pressure cooker using a stainless steel pot and not non stick is impossible

#20

so looks like hey’ll ship the 6L but not the 8L… can you fit a large whole chicken comfortably in the 6L?

#21

Yes @Andy1, you can cook a 2.2kg chicken confortaby in a 6l instant pot. The chicken will probably touch the sides unless you truss it up, but that doesn’t effect the cooking in any way. A 2.2kg seems to slot nicely into the pot you won’t need to use any effort to get it in…

here’s some pics. This chicken is a 2.2kg or an "extra large’ chicken in NZ

Prepped ready for sauté

In the pot before pressure cooking

Done! (And fall off the bone delicious)

If it helps…I set up an account through MyUS and I can buy anything in the US and it is shipped to an American address. They then ship it to me. You can buy lots of things and they hold it for you until you give them the go-ahead to ship. Food for thought :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

#23

@MsMonny That’s an awesome idea, which is a really useful way to get some things that are otherwise unable to be shipped outside the USA.

However with electrical appliances NZ and Australia need to source products from countries which have a 240v mains supply.

American appliances are 120v and will not work in Australia and New Zealand, without an expensive and cumbersome converter.

That is the reason it was suggested to use amazon.co.uk, the voltages of the appliances will be compatible with our local mains supply.

Ahhh! Ofourse! Bugger.

(J DAKIC) #25

You can go for a 8L Kogan equivalent as they work brilliantly… I recently upgraded my old multicooker as wanted 6L to this model and has been just brilliant.

(Kate) #26

Thanks for the post. I have wanted one for ages after seeing someone rending there own lard.

#27

looks like it has great specs. My only concern would be on going service and spare parts/accessories.
I’ve ended up buying the 6L instant pot from amazon uk and all the accessories from Amazon usa as the accessories would not ship from the uk.

Tip for those buying the 6L pot for shipping to australia/nz, you have to select the seller as amazon.co.uk and not instant pot to get a unit that will ship to aus/nz

then like i said, if you want any accessories, get those from the US site

#28

For those concerned about getting the Instant Pot shipped to NZ/AUS, just use a shipping redirection service in the Amazon UK store:

  1. Shop Amazon UK store: Check to make sure you’re getting the 220-240V version of the Instant Pot: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Instant-Pot-Electric-Pressure-Stainless/dp/B00OP26T4K/

  2. Also shop for a power plug adapter: You’ll want to get a power plug adapter from UK to NZ / AUS

  3. Ship to a shipping redirection address. There are plenty out there that will provide you with a US-based address and which then forward your mail to NZ / AUS / wherever.

And voilá, you have the 220-240V version delivered to you in NZ / AUS

(Kathleen Rodrigues) #29

Hi, when you say you have to change the plug, do you mean via a plug adapter or did you take it to an electrician to professionally change it?

#30

It’s an electric kettle style lead, the sort that are removable.
Its possible you may have one from another kitchen appliance that would fit and be the same rating. Sometimes rice cookers are supplied with the same sort of lead.
There are various types of computer equipment such as printers and computer monitors that use the same type of lead so you may have one of those spare you could utilise.
Otherwise you could purchase one cheaply from an electrical supply shop and as a last resort you could get an electrican to change the plug but that would probably be the more expensive option.
Hope that helps!
