I have been so proud of myself and have been doing a great job watching everything I eat. Tonight, I ordered out and thought I had made a smart decision. Pulled pork-no bun, some dry coleslaw, and green beans. When I put everything into the app, the beans were 45g!!! I am so upset and mad at myself for not looking up the overall nutritional info. Will this now take me out of ketosis? Do I have to go through the whole process again? I feel like a failure right now.
I Screwed Up :(
You would have to eat over a pound of green beans to hit 45g of total carbs (which would still only be 27g net carbs).
Donât stress over the past - you canât change it. Take it as a lesson learned and do better in the future. Count carbs before eating a meal moving forward, and get back on the horse. No sense in beating yourself up. KCKO.
Edited to add - ESPECIALLY count your carbs before eating out. Restaurants love to sneak carbs everywhere
Also - 22g of protein?? Those are some hellacious beans.
Using the same Nutritionix web site, and picking KFCâs green beans (to make sure itâs showing cooked), for the same serving size (5 oz = 141g), it lists a whopping 8g total carbs, 4g net carbs.
I think that entry is wrong for that side item in the database.
Donât stress. Nothing will happen except, at the very worst, youâll be out of ketosis for a few hours. Although we discourage people from cheating at all in the first 6 weeks itâs because some people will take it as an excuse to go on and off plan repeatedly and will never fat adapt that way. That WILL NOT happen from a single, or even two or three, small errors.
Just Keep Calm and Keto On (KCKO).
You probably made a choice that was better than 95% of the choices made before starting this woe. Itâs all good. Nothing is linear. Use it as a learning opportunity and KCKO!
I really, really hope so! I have been trying so hard and this just threw me for a loop.
Green beans are generally just fine for keto. The info for that one side item is completely out of whack - calories, carbs, protein. They provided the wrong info on their product for those on-line databases.
Dont feel bad, I dove into my sons chicken nuggets today then I looked them up after I ate 6 and saw how bad they were and stopped. Tomorrow is another day!
