I need help 🙏

Thank you CandyLind for checking on me :pray:
The list is very gradual like half a pound in two days , sometimes nothing but overall I feel good . I also notice a spike in my weight 3 lbs when I indulge in yogurt/ curd made of hwc. In spite of it being within my macros. This has happened twice so far . It takes 2/3 days for the spiked weight gain to vanish again. :joy: otherwise though weight loss is slower than snails pace I am glad the scale is at least moving :joy:
The HWC is really a mystery because my other day source too is mostly from diary so not sure why hwc within macros is causing such a spike

100 days of Keto

If anyone else reading this thinks I’m off-base, please say so! I’m not a vegetarian, but I have my own keto issues that I am struggling with, and it seems like I’ve found an information “treasure chest” with this forum, and I can’t help but want to help others as I am being helped.

@Eightyeight, I know it’s still early on for you, but this WOE in most cases is pretty open to “N=1 experimentation” - ie., finding what’s right for you. Would you consider trying an elimination diet to see if dairy (or even just “cow dairy”) is what’s holding you back? If so, poking around on some vegetarian/vegan boards might help you find enough fat/protein variety to keep you within your macros. This topic, while it includes dairy, has some links to some other places you can look at for menu ideas and/or substitutions - including a few sub-Reddit’s & FaceBook groups. Or you could just “keep it simple” and go to coffee with Ghee (eliminates milkfat) and/or coconut oil (I ADORE butter coffee & tea!) along with olive/avocado/nut oils for your fat (homemade mayo is DA BOMB), & lots of eggs, and see how you do in a week. If eliminating cow dairy seems to help, then go looking for more menu ideas to keep your brain happy as well as your metabolism.

One thing to remember about hwc is that it has a huge surface area. Iow, it will be absorbed really fast compared to firm food. That’s why shakes are terrible as well. $0.02

Does that mean we should avoid it? (It’s a staple for sure in my kitchen  )

I am so glad to hear that the scale is moving! No matter how slowly, it is moving into the right direction. I will take it! The cream you are using, is it organic? Regular cream often has other stuff added to it. Maybe those chemicals are the cause of what makes it so much harder for you.

Absorbed quickly means a bigger insulin response which is what we are trying to avoid.

It might be great in cheese sauce with broc and bad plain in coffee. Just see what your blood glucose does. It’s the only way to learn these things for each different person.

***My Experience

For the past ninety day I have been using fasting to give my keto inclinations more teeth. Interpreting my Ketonix numbers I am mostly at a modest level of ketosis. Spikes sharply up with extended fasts. I use a combination of 24 hour fasts , every 6 weeks +or- a 7 day fast.

I chart blood pressure, Ketonix readings, circumference and weight. But, I don’t screw around with worrying about ratios. Instead I eat items on Dr. Westman’s eat this sheet as a guide.

Like many others I have read, experimented, listened to podcasts, viewed videos and contemplated. I have decided what works for me. I try to avoid noise of blathering idiots.

Guess that means I think I can identify them. Hope they don’t get better at stealth mode. I also reflect on the times I have been proven wrong.

Names that steered me in the right direction — Fung, Phinney, Volek, Westman

Fung advice to give myself a break if I stray and baseline fasting info is useful.

This is from a not diabetic, who has seen 340 pounds. A person who has lost 100 pounds and regained all of them. It is from a person who feels in control — largely by adding fasting to keto. It is from a smiling person that sees steady weight/inches lost.

I also do modest resistance band exercise based on the Resistance Bands Workbook

This is a celebration post for this quarters positive results. Yea!

I never thought of it that way! I don’t like drinking my calories, anyway; now I have a good reason!
