I’m still here - major accomplishment

(LeeAnn Brooks) #1

I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I am still on the Keto train.

And I completed my half marathon trail run last Saturday. It was the most grueling course Ive ever tried and the biggest physical challenge I’ve ever accomplished. My Fitbit awarded me a Roller Coaster badge for all the ups and downs I did on the course. But I completed it and am very proud of myself.

Here’s my bling - all 7” of it. Flava Flav would be jealous.

Congratulations! Awesome accomplishment :+1:

Yes a great accomplishment!
Did you consume any carbs during the race?
I have been Keto for 7 months now and have not competed in a race yet. I was thinking I would bring a gel pack just in case.

I had a peanut butter pack a few hours before the race. It was all natural, no sugar added, so limited number of carbs.

(less is more, more or less) #5

Congratulations! Will you run in any more?

(Kirk) #6

Congrats Annie! Major accomplishment!

(LeeAnn Brooks) #7

Yeah. I want to start to combine races with travel. I’m considering one in Indianapolis in November. A long weekend with a run and then explore the city.

I should clarify, Indy is a road half marathon. I don’t think I’ll be doing anything longer than a 10k trail run again. That is brutal. I face planted it once and my sister biffed it 3 times, breaking her big toe in the process.

But there’s a 50 State half marathon challenge. I know I’d never complete them all, but I think it would be fun to see how many I can check off.

Well, look at you! Running in all 50 states sounds amazing on so many levels. While I’m more optimistic about my health in retirement, I’d have to put such a grand plan off for a little while.

I’m shooting for a yearly half-marathon, after which I’ll enjoy a pint of beer of my choosing.

For the next 4 years, it’s going to be hitting the states closest to me that I can easily drive to and just spend a long weekend. Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin. Maybe Kentucky.

After that my husband will be retiring and I plan to do a lot more traveling. I’ll still be working for quite some time, but I’ll have a good deal of vacation and we will start to venture out to other places.

Great job LeeAnn! Glad to hear you made it through

Wtg…I’ve never been a runner not even in school.but congrats to ur run so awesome

(LeeAnn Brooks) #14

I hated running in school. I despised the cross country requirement we had in gym class. If you would have told me I’d run for fun, I would have thought you were crazy.

(Candace) #15

Wow! Congratulations! That is amazing

Congratulation on your half marathon. WTG.
