Hi. I’ve been doing KETO for 2 weeks and I haven’t lost anything. I’m following my macros. I want to lose 25lbs. I wasn’t a horrible eater before and not a carb junkie. I don’t understand. I’m in ketosis and have been for 2 weeks.
I’m not losing weight
You’ll need to give a bit more info for people to be able to help you.
Weight
Height
Age
Macros
Example of daily meals
Any other health issues or meds
Without those there isn’t much to go on to give pointers.
Getting into ketosis is quick and easy - couple of days at the most.
Becoming fat-adapted where your body burns fat for energy instead of glucose takes weeks. Anywhere from 6-12 weeks.
Most people drop some weight at the beginning from water loss (not fat) but not always.
Some even gain weight initially until they become fat-adapted
What does a typical day’s menu look like for you? How often are you eating? What are your macro targets?
How long did it take you to put on that extra 25 lbs you’re now trying to lose?
Yes this ^^
25lbs isn’t a lot. Your not going to be able to compare to a 300lb guy who lost 30lbs in the first couple months.
The first quick pounds that come off are generally water weight. If you already had a decent diet to begin with then you might not have much to water to lose.
Plus your not fat adapted yet, so your body is just sitting patiently waiting for you to eat carbs again. It’s not going to do anything until its convinced you aren’t going to change back to your old diet.
To me this statement isn’t accurate in determining the time they will take to lose the weight. I gained almost 60 pounds over the course of 3 years and I’m already down almost 30 in 3 months.
Okay question / statement . Still is not an accurate way to determine how long it will take someone to lose the weight.
You seem to be putting words in my mouth. We don’t have to agree, but usually it’s best to wait until someone actually says something BEFORE you disagree with them.
But you had 60 pounds to lose, not 25. That’s more than double the amount of hers. It’s not going to continue to drop that quickly, unless you get very lucky. Your a smaller percentage of people that weightloss is quicker. As you reach goal weight it will slow.
Age can play into it as well. At 50 it may take your body a bit longer to adapt. 25 lbs isn’t that much to lose compared to quite a few on here that have 100+ lbs. your body is only a few weeks in. I’d guess you may just be adapting. You also may be taking in carbs you don’t realize? I was over 20g net carbs at first not realizing some of the stuff that has higher carbs.
No I dropped 11 pounds quick maybe like 2 1/2 weeks and went back up maybe like 3 or 4 pounds. I can’t remember seems so long ago haha. I am very strict though . I know lots of people who cheat or do lazy keto and still lose weight I just want it as quick as possible and I’m used to eating this way now so it’s easy for me
2 weeks is such a short time I wouldn’t judge anything yet plus it’s not just about weight loss I know that’s important, but the other benefits you get make it well worth it ! I’m losing at a snail speed and I’m ok with that because I’ve never felt better also I’ve lost a lot of inches are you measuring as well ? Keep doing what your doing it will be so worth it in the end !
I am a bit older than you (59) and started out a bit heavier than you (185) and my goal was to lose 30 lbs.
I checked my tracker and after 2 weeks I had lost 6 lbs so was about where you started. It was mostly water weight and I never lost that much in such a short time again.
I started after Thanksgiving last year and hit my goal last month. 8 months. I had a long stall (several months) and started fasting in June and broke it and got the last 10 lbs off in a couple of weeks.
Hope this helps.
Keto is not a quick-loss diet for most people. But if you stick with it long enough to become fat-adapted you may never go back to eating a lot of carbs again.
I feel great, my skin looks so much better, my hair is thicker. So many other benefits besides weight loss!
I was thin back in the day , almost underweight , gained 60 pounds due to college / going out to eat and being on birth control . Iv lost 27 to date and honestly I’m at a healthy weight for my height currently but I want to lose more I don’t exactly need to though. Naturally I am a thinner person even when I gained weight some of that weight still put me in healthy range for my height. Honestly for the way I had been eating for the past 3 years I’m surprised I wasn’t heavier because I would eat probably 3,000 calories a day I’m not kidding every meal was drive thru or take out or something like that - I never cooked until I started keto.
