Hydration options

(Tj Slattery) #1

Looking for some options when t comes to hydration. I’m drinking tons of water, some coffee and tea but looking for some variety.

As a former milk addict, I’m probably craving sweets, but I am looking for a little flavor as well.

Any suggestions?

I have actually never thought about this question, this is actually a brilliant question. I am going to experiment with different ratios of cream (perhaps half and half, has 5.2 carbs per 1/2 cup), filtered water and perhaps a very slight amount of stevia or swerve to give it that sweet hint you speak of.

I like unsweetened vanilla cashew milk… 1 carb per 8oz serving

There are some Mio and similar products coming on the market sweetened with Stevia.

Torani makes a line of sugar free syrups in fruit, caramel, chocolate and many many other flavors that are sweetened with liquid Splenda. They have recipes for soda like drinks with soda water.

I still have some sparkling water lime flavored mineral water Trader Joe’s and some orange & raspberry La Croix left over from a medical procedure last year.

I have a can or bottle with lunch once a week or so.

Yes, this was a big deal for me. I would not feel “deprived” when ordering my Keto meal in a restaurant, but I would feel jealous when others ordered their drinks. Here is a list of drinks I currently enjoy.

Unsweetened coconut almond milk, water with a squeeze of lemon and truvia to taste, Keto hot chocolate…unsweetened cocoa powder, salt vanilla, truvia heavy whipping cream, Keto chocolate shake (same as hot chocolate just replace hot water with ice cubes and magic bullet the mix, Coke Zero, seltzer waters with flavor, mio or skinny girl drops in seltzer.

Since going keto I have fallen in love with La Croix water. No sweeteners, sparkling water with flavor. So good!

I make my own version of @carl drink he talks about on the podcast.

Lemon juice
Bitters
Apple cider vinegar
Sparkling mineral water

I bought a soda stream carbonator… so I just fizz up some water and add lemon juice…chill…

Do you really like it? I haven’t had soda, in any manor, in over 5 years… Wouldn’t mind a fizzy drink from time to time

I love what I call a keto cream soda. Club soda, generous portion of HWC, some flavour (I just use some vanilla stevia), some vanilla powder if you have, lots of ice. I’ve even added coconut or MCT oil, but it does get a little chewy because the oil solidifies into little beads in the cold liquid. I don’t mind it though. I find this to be a real treat.

Throughout the day I consume S.Pellegrino Sparking Mineral Water adding a pinch of Epsom salt, a pinch of Pink Himalayan salt and about 1/2 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. I also add a couple drops of lemon or orange liquid stevia to taste to the mix.

I find this works fantastically in sparkling wine so can only imagine it would work just as well in water! I drop frozen raspberries into it like ice cubes - the flavour seeps in wonderfully.

I love it. It helps me get in a good amount if water a day! Not evryone likes soda water though.

I love Ultima electrolyte powder. No blood sugar response

Polar Seltzer, if you can find them near you. 18 standard flavors, plus 5 Winter and 5 Summer special flavors. I take a different liter to work each day. Funny to see the looks I get when Polar liters are the only things in my cart at Wegman’s.

Nestle splash is good flavored water also!

I have found that unsweetened almond milk works well to the point that I dislike regular milk. Also, occasionally will use diet ginger ale but cut it 50/50 with water. That reduces both the sweetness and the carbonation and, has no caffeine. I find it refreshing but not addictive like full strength diet soda can be. Also, it also reduces the diuretic effect of the soda. That said, I try to still get my 8 cups of plain ol’ water in every day. It really helps with so many other aspects.

I too find this topic interesting so appreciate hearing what others have found.

Yes! That brand is hard for me to find in my area now, but when I do I find it, I buy a lot.

You might try Zevia sodas. They are sweetened with erythritol and stevia. Some of them are pretty good.
