Okay dumb question, but I am curious. How do hunger strikers end up dying so quickly from fasting (ie Bobby Sands in 66 days) when we hear about people doing significant ef? I assume it’s because these hunger strikers are starting with a relatively low amount of body fat to begin with. Anyway, I’m just curious.
Hunger strikers?

This is a guess, okay? Don’t take it as science. Angus Barbieri could go as long as he did, because not only did he have fat to lose, but he also had muscle and skin he could afford to consume for the nitrogen, since it was unneeded once enough fat was metabolized. But this is a rare case. Sixty-six days is pretty much the outer limit, for normal people.

That makes sense. Once a normal(even normal obese) person fasts down their body fat the body starts to break down organs and then death rapidly ensues. I was just curious and wanted someone to confirm my theory. Thanks!
