I thought hat was a botched boob job…until I looked closer!

Gary Taubes published a similar picture of a woman who had lumps of fat on her thighs from the same cause.

Good CanLit summary! I’m from southern Ontario, and when I read some of Alice Munro’s stories, I can see, hear, and smell what she’s writing about, because my experiences were so similar.

Quote: In an interview with Timothy Findley, Gibson** commented that Findley’s novel The Last of the Crazy People shared similarities with the American Southern Gothic genre, to which Findley replied, “…sure, it’s Southern Gothic: Southern Ontario Gothic.”

** Graeme Gibson, Margaret Atwood’s life partner.

Oh lordy - I used to LOVE raw cookie dough. In fact I never cared for them once they were cooked but raw… Yum.

(Daisy) #332

Haha same. In my sugar eating days I could blow through a half of that package at once!

On a related note :joy:

What was wrong with your appetite? Were you feeling ill?

(Jane) #336

I am stubborn and ignored the “conventional wisdom” of the bought-and -sold-media and never quit eating…… raw eggs, butter sitting at room temp on my counter for days, bacon, half n half (but now use HWC). I just wish I had blown off their CICO and other bullshit!

(Daisy) #337

No, I was usually binge eating in a closet somewhere and about the time I’d get halfway through it I’d hear voices and hide it, coming back later to sneak it back into my hiding place in the fridge :woman_facepalming:

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #338

Makes sense. Say no more.

You and the butter. I survived raw egg shakes because my pediatrician was freaked out I did not gain weight as a child. Though to this day, I don’t eat eggs.

Americans freak out when you don’t refrigerate the butter. And we wouldn’t need to refrigerate eggs, either, if we didn’t wash the coating off them. I never refrigerate such things as ketchup, syrup, and honey, but I know people who do. I’m not sure what they think will happen if they leave them out.
