How to lose neck fat or other particular areas

(Jennifer) #1

Hi, I have been on ketos for the past 6 months and the effect is huge. Lost 25 pounds, on everywhere except on my neck.

Seems like either keto or IF (even 24 hour fasting) have no effect on my neck. So now become quite frustrated since everywhere else is lean now.

Anyone has similar experience? how to lose neck fat or a particular area?
Thanks and have a nice day!
Jen

If anyone could tell you how to do that, they’d be a millionaire. You can’t target certain body parts!

That is so weird. The neck was the first place I noticed I was getting thinner. Just goes to show that our bodies all work in different ways. Keep up the awesome work!

(Jennifer) #4

Sigh. So I can’t do anything about it, I guess. Thanks for pointing that out.

(Jennifer) #5

Good for you. Wish I could lose first on neck.

If you can afford it, Liposuction?

In a weird coincidence, I just this week noticed that I can now feel/see the tendons in my neck for the first time in a long time. Although I am in a weight loss stall, I have still noticed my pants fitting looser and now my neck getting leaner. I’ll take it, although there is so much more fat elsewhere that I would prefer to lose.

I’ve been eating ketogenically for 7 months. Started EF about 2 months ago. I think the EF is helping with some body restructuring, even without much weight loss right now. My advice, KCKO and maybe some fasting, if you’re at a point in your journey where that might make sense and if you want to.

You can keep calm and keto on. It should happen eventually.

Well, I try not to go under any knife. I prefer a natural cure.

(Jennifer) #10

Thanks for this. I will do that. Keep calm, keto on.

Thanks for sharing! This is encouraging. What is EF though?

Extended fasting (fasting for more than 24 hours). I didn’t do this until after I was fat adapted, which took me a really long time, after about 5 months or so. I have insulin resistance and chronic fatigue syndrome (so, very metabolically deranged), so I think this took me a lot longer than most people.

If you are interested in exploring the idea of fasting, here are some resources I found helpdful. Dr. Fung’s book, ā€œThe Complete Guide to Fasting… ā€œ. The podcast ā€œThe Obesity Codeā€ with Dr.Fung, Megan Ramos, and the 2 Keto Dudes. The podcast ā€œFasting Talk with Jimmy Moore and Friendsā€ which featured Dr. Fung and Megan Ramos. I found Jimmy Moore a bit annoying, but there was a lot of good, practical information about fasting from Dr.Fung and Megan.

Same here. I told my husband that I was going to fast away my chicken neck. I don’t think he really believes me!

Look up yoga exercises that help strengthen neck muscles but other than that your body will lose weight where it sees fit and it’s different for us all unless of course we go under the knife

I’m the opposite- it’s gone from my face & neck, then my shoulders, then waist… I can only hope the weight loss keeps going downwards 'cos it’s below the waist that needs it most!!

Thank you so much! I am on 24 hour fasting at this moment. It helps to some extend. Maybe I should prolong it to 36 hours. The problem is that, I feel hungry (it is a sensation I like) before going to bed and can have a hard time to go to sleep. So last night, I drink some chicken soup and had a good sleep.

So have you lost the neck fat so far?

(Jennifer) #18

Will try that too. Thanks.

I remember reading about how you can force normal fat to become ā€˜brown fat’. Brown fat supposedly gets burnt faster than normal fat. If this is true, you should be able to force that neck fat into brown fat, thereby burning it faster than the rest of he fat. Same priority in burning, but it burns faster?

To get it to convert… cryogenically. But I suspect just using regular ice packs should do it. Maybe a few wet towels kept in the fridge to get down into just above freezing, and wrapped around the area needing conversion. Once the towel has warmed up a bit, swap it for another cold one.

This might not do anything but make you cold, or look like an idiot. But if the things I had read about brown fat were true, then it should work.

I think it’s 50/50. Sounds plausible to me.

@Robert_Johnson

Something new and interesting to research. Thanks!
