Fung says that we will feel energetic when we fast because the body will then be prepared to go hunting for food. I guess he assume people in older times were better fat adapted than the modern man who eat more carbs. So if we feel fatigued it is either because we are not fully fat adapted or we need minerals according to people on this forum. But did people supplement with minerals earlier?
How natural is it to supplement with salt?

I guess it depends on what you mean by “supplemented.” Salt licks were certainly a prized thing, so I guess they were constantly used whenever possible.

Drinking the blood of your prey provided quite a bit of salt. Even I draw the line at that one, despite seeing many documentaries where it happens.
