Hi everyone. I started keto today, just came off HCG protocol which was terrible and I won’t ever do it again. I’m using MFP to help me track and measure my macros and calories. Suggest calories are 1265, I was only able to eat 900. Got my macros almost spot on though.
I’m keeping the food list simple I get the hang of it all. I have 10kg to lose. I’m expecting a gain to begin with as HCG is brutally low in fat in calories. I have loved reading posts from the experienced members and look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome. I’m new here too, but I think you’re going to hear that your calories are way too low.
You need a lot more calories doing LCHF than other types of diets. I went from doing LF at 1200-1400/day to Keto at an average of 1600-1800/day. It will of course depend on your weight and other factors. Keep in mind that the extra fat means smaller plates of food will have a lot higher calorie content. Don’t fret over this. Eat to satiety.
Welcome! This is the first I’ve seen HCG mentioned (but I’m pretty new around here too). I did HCG in 2010 and lost about 80#s, then it came steadily back in a period of high stress and emotional eating. I will say that with all that fat to lose, the HCG protocol went well for me, and I experienced a similar ‘full’ due to the flowing of fat into my system.
HCG was a protocol, certainly not meant for long term. I see Keto as a WOE, a Way of Life. Hope you enjoy the benefits of eating rich delicious food. I’ve been using my hunger signals as signals to start searching recipes for the next decadent way to use fat!
Hi thanks for the reply. I’m 173cm and currently 78.5kg. I do HIIT 4 times a week and don’t have a very active job. My goal is 70kg.
Yep gotcha, I ate until stuffed on my first day and still only managed 900 cals.
That may be an indication your not getting enough fat. Try adding oil or butter to things. Everyone swears by BPC. I do an adaptation of it called Rocket Fuel Latte (a la Leanne Vogal) that taste like a French Vanilla capaccino. Maybe you can sip your way to more calories?
Thanks, being only my second day it’s hard to get my head around shoving in more fat when not hungry. I will see if I do better today. I just assumed if my macro percentages were on track and I wasn’t hungry, i was on track. I could also be that I’m coming off HCG and after such a long period of little food and no fat I’m filling up quicker.
Yup, it’s harder at first. The problem is if you don’t up your calories, your body will go into starvation mode (if it hasn’t already) and even following a Keto diet, you will stall any weight loss.
But increasing the fat in your macros and reducing carbs or even protein will help you get more calories without actually eating more volume of food.
I’ll give it a go! I actually woke hungry which isn’t the usual for me, so I’m going to make the most of it and do a creamy scrambled egg in butter. That should help with today’s cals and fat.
