Curious, was it MFP? There is an aggressive crowd there that will bash keto the moment the word is typed. It was as if it their goal in life was to say keto doesn’t work and if it does work there is a better way so it is not necessary.
Hi u all I am new
MFP? Not familiar with that one. I don’t feel it is right of me to name name. I am sure the forum owner is working hard to turn it around over there. And that I met a group of unfriendly users does not mean they are all bad, or that most of them are bad. Could just be a few rogue dudes running around the forum causing havoc with their harsh words and bad behavior.
I am just happy I found this friendly forum.
Butter, bacon, cheese, cream, sour cream: these are foods that I used to think you had to eat very little of or avoid, now they are staples in my kitchen. I could make a meal out of just those ingredients. In fact … I think I will!!
Hm a weekend experiment, I am up for that. Let’s see. Bacon. Any way you make it is a winner, after all, it is bacon. Cheese? Lard fried Mozzarella sticks dipped in egg and rolled in crushed crispy pork rinds. Served with sour cream dippings, and a large cup of coffee for dessert with 100% pure cacao powder and and a healthy portion if heavy cream. Sounds like a Saturday challenge, will make that happen.
I couldn’t help myself last night so I did the bacon and fried mozzarella last night. It was great. Today I am doing pulled pork, a few slices of bacon wrapped around asparges more of the mozzarella stick just like I had them yesterday and just a few clicks of sour cream for fun.
Today I had mct and cocoa oil to my cacao and heavy cream coffee in the morning. Great way to start the day. And breakfast took me about a minute to make so efficient too
Just came to think of what I noticed today at supermarket. I usually go shopping once a week and shop for the whole week. It is stressfull as I don’t really like crowded places and by the time I get all my bags in the car I am usually warm, breathing heavy and a little bit sweaty.
Today my shopping list was very short, because I didn’t pick up all that carbohydrates, no bread, bagels, crossantes and of course no snacks like potato chips, chocolate, jelly beans or soft drinks. I shopped only what was on my shopping list and payed up and left the stores with two small bags. The whole weekly shopping took very little time, and was not nearly as stressfull as the shopping tend to be.
I think I must have been a little ashamed earlier when shopping, because the shopping cart has been a visual display of my poor choices in life. I used to feel the eyes of strangers first noticing my body size, then I could see their eyes wondering to my shopping cart and notice the garbage food I filled up the cart with. And I surely could sense they where thinking, “no wonder that guy is fat - look at what he is eating”
OK, if I am thinking it over rationally I understand most people as so caught up in their own life they don’t take the time to analyze other peoples shopping carts. So I understand it has to do with my feelings more then anything else. But even if it was in my mind all that negativity was rooted, it still affected me. I could feel anxiety and stress build up I was making one bad choice of food and junk food going down the aisle. And it always used to reach a peak at the counter. Waiting in line, pickup up items and displaying each item on the counter.
Todays shopping, no stress. No shame. And no anxiety. Not even a drop of sweat on my fore head.
Your feelings are for real. I would feel that way, too. I used to be so uncomfortable if I saw people I knew, or if the person ahead or behind me in the checkout line had all healthy stuff on the belt. Shopping takes a lot less time now and I am only in a few areas of the store.
Yes, this! I felt that same shame and sense of exposure. Now I wonder what people think of my cart of bacon, whipping cream, sour cream, avocados and cheese. LOL, I no longer care what they think!! I have no shame because I KNOW I’m doing it right
I had the lady behind me in line last night at Walmart asking me if I was doing Keto.
I said, yes I have switched to the Keto Lifestyle since February and am down 36 pounds so far and feeling great. She said that won’t last, my daughter was on it and it and lost 50 pounds then gained it right back… I asked her if she went back to the old way of eating because Keto is a lifestyle, you switch to, not like just a regular diet… and she said oh, I don’t know, just know she gained it all back. I am guessing her daughter did a fast track loss, then went back to her old ways… that is sad really =(. Maybe one day she will see the light and get back on track =).
Calorie restricted diets are the same. If you go back to your old way of eating (content and quantity) you’ll gain weight again. More probably.
It’s so interesting how negative people can get when they find you are successfully losing weight. She is trying to talk you out of keto so that you can go back to being fat like her (I’m guessing) or to make her feel better about her daughter.
It is just frustrating… but oh well, she did not deter me at all on my Keto Journey =).
What a tool. If you don’t have anything good to say, keep your dumb a$$ thoughts to yourself.
I know… I just didn’t respond to her after that… I was happy the cashier at Walmart noticed I had lost weight though, that was a nice feeling =).
She is young and slim (of course) but asked me what “program” I am doing, I told her Keto and she said, well it is working for you, you look great. I just said thanks a lot =) and that was that. hehe.
