Welcome to the forum! This is a good place for both. I enjoy reading the continuous thread “What did you keto today?” because it shows what people are actually eating and is a great way to share recipes. There is also a great “Food” category.

I started keto Sept '17 after a couple months of research. Last year, I experienced several incidents of reduced cognitive ability (leaving my keys in the car running for hours, missing appointments because of misunderstanding time, reduction of short-term memory, difficulty recognizing faces, and reduced manual dexterity) which scared me that I was in the early stages of some kind of dementia. My doctor told me not to worry about it and said it is normal. I’m 60. He was no help so I decided to figure out a solution myself.

I determined from my research that keto is the best WOE for preventing dementia. It is difficult to quantify, but it seems there has been an improvement in my cognitive ability. I haven’t returned to my car to find the car running, and I haven’t failed to recognized anyone, although I still seem to forget things a lot and I am still missing appointments. And my energy level is incredible. I am confident I will see more improvements in the future. It just takes time.

My secondary reason for keto was to reach a healthy weight. I have lost more than 60 lbs with about 20 left to go!
