Hi! I’m new to this form. I’ve just restarted keto after finishing breastfeeding my second baby. I did keto to finish loosing weight with my first and it was AMAZING! However this time around I’m having a hard time getting this weight to come off. I’m on day 8 and have lost ZERO lbs. I keep my carbs at approximately 20 per day. I don’t snack much and eat 3 meals a day. Ive purchased the keto test strips and they show I’m in Ketosis. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong this time around!? It’s getting frustrating! Please help!
Help! Day 8 and no weight loss
It might be that you aren’t doing anything parricularly wrong. What if your body is just focusing on replenishing bone mineral and rebuilding muscle strength?
Some people on here also experience that it takes longer to get the weight loss started the second time starting keto.
There could of course also be something that you are doing wrong, there might even be food which you tolerate less since last time. But try to just eat to satiety whenever you are hungry for a couple more weeks before you start going into troubleshooting. Your body has been under a lot of stress, and could probably use a little break anyway.
You’re only on day 8, your hormones are adjusting and it’s your second time around. How much you have to lose also matters. The closer you are to the weight that’s right for you, the slower losses can be. Your body will use this time to sort things out inside first.
It’s advisable to do tape measurements as well. You may see those numbers change before the scale reflects a difference. As always, this is a getting healthy way of eating and weight loss is a wonderful benefit and the process takes it’s time. Give it time and KCKO. Best wishes to you and the little ones.
Hi Rochelle.
As the others have said, you are probably not doing anything wrong and losing weight on keto might not be as easy the second time around. Eight days isn’t really a fair enough amount of time to expect weight loss considering you just gave birth and your body was in a mode where it didn’t want to give up body fat for a very good reason. It might just take a little longer to convince your hormones that the coast is clear.
I would try to eliminate snacking if I were you and just eat larger meals. The longer we keep insulin at rest, the better our chance to burn body fat. I would also try to avoid artificial sweeteners for the same reason and focus on single item whole foods.
Oh and congrats on your second baby.
