Fried chicken skin

I’m behind on the podcast (doing different work and less time to listen ), but recently listened to the episode with the crispy chicken skin recipe and I am now on the hunt for a local source of cheap chicken skin.

But the other day I was cooking some bacon on the stove and I realised I had leftover store bought rotisserie chicken in the fridge. When the bacon was done, I laid the skin from the chicken in the pan, cooked it until it was crispy. Not quite the same as the recipe. But oh my goodness was that soooo good. I always have some bacon fat in the fridge, so I will do this whenever I get a bit of chicken skin.

Can’t find to find a source to buy it by the kilo.

It can be tough. I have two places I get it from, but it’s hit and miss if they have it or not, so I usually buy either as much as they have, or whatever I can fit in my freezer when they do have it

My most favorite, luv chicken skin! Everybody tears the skin off saying how bad it is and “it clogs your arteries” and I am their scooping it on to my plate? Mmmmm mmmm!

I want it all! Lock your fridge TJ!

I had roast duck last night… duck skin, loads of fat, gorgeous!! Another favourite.

Whenever I eat it I still think of the episode of South Park where cartmen eats the skin off of the whole bucket of chicken…not the chicken, just the skin.

It feels like a guilty pleasure, like it’s breaking some kind of rule, but its like damn near perfect keto

I’ve also recently been buying cheap turkey wings. Lots of fat and skin, num num num…

By the case, chicken skins are only about $1 per pound. Twisted, seasoned, and roasted they are awesome.

“Chickarones” …friggin awesome! :+1:

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #9

Sounds as though it’s worth raising chickens just for the skins! :chicken:

I had meant to say “I can’t WAIT to find it by the kilo”.

There are a couple egg farmers in the local market. I don’t buy eggs from them because they all go through the marketing board anyway. In Canada or at least Ontario if you want farm fresh eggs, you have to go to the farm.

Anyway, they also sell chicken, so they must have skin. I will ask next time I go, or more likely go just to ask. lol

I found a butcher near me …the old fashion kind. They bucher their ownmeat, smoke their own bacon, and sell their chicken skins for$1.00 a pound!!! I bought 5 pounds, split them up into servings and froze them. Had some today…so yummy, crispy, salty and garlicy! A wonderful lunch, and it will keep me full for the rest of the day!
