I found a keto friendly mayo whilst grocery shopping this morning.
I saw it at Target. Price was $3.09.Found -- A keto friendly mayo
While it does work out in macros, I try to avoid soybean oil. I haven’t found a grocery store mayo that doesn’t contain it. I’ve heard Trader Joe’s carries one, but I haven’t had time to drive 45 minutes to the nearest store.
The only really good one is “Mark’s Apple” brand. But you have to take out a small mortgage loan to buy it.
I like Primal Kitchen from Thrive Market. I have a friend with a membership so I order when she is placing an order.
Or just make it. It’s insanley easy and you can customize it to your taste
If you’re going to do a purchased mayo, I would recommend Chosen Foods avacado oil mayo. Especially if you used to use Miricle Whip instead of real mayo. It has a tang that’s similar to MW. I love it. And it doesn’t contain any seed oils or sweeteners.
I’ll have to check that out and see if mine does. We had the Chosen Foods Avacado Oil mayo, but discontinued it. I bought like 7 jars or it before we sold out.
They still carry it at Costco in Canada - I have family in Toronto - so I have a regular supply…
It will probably come back again. We cycle products a lot, as we can only carry about 4,000 items at any given time. Compared to over 200,000 of a typical super market.
It’s not uncommon for us to carry even these types of foods “seasonally.” Meaning we will have for about 3 months than not get again till next year. Many times we replace with something different but comparable.
Thank you everyone for the great ideas and tips. When I use up the mayo I bought, I am going to attempt to make my own.
HONEY??? THATS NOT KETO… I’m just kidding. That’s good stuff too. Most of the time I make it I use Chosen Foods Avocado Oil (available at your local Costco).
I’m going to make my own, but I bought 7 jars I have to use up first. I’m down to my last 3.
Does your homemade version have that MW tang to it? That’s what I gotta have.
It does when I make with ACV. Lately I’ve been making it with the juice from half a lime. It creates a completely different flavor.
You have to play around with it. Getting the salt right is important.
And these are Costco sized jars of mayo. Just a wee bit bigger than the typical store sized jars.
My wife, ever the excellent cook, told me I should make Aioli, not Mayo. I made it, and she was right.
I didn’t add the garlic, but I’m lazy. Some say to use the “light tasting” olive oil. Here, “light” means less of that distinctive Olive Oil taste. I like that taste, so I grabbed some EVOO and was happy with what I made.
