First Fast!

(Patrick B.) #1

I’ve been on a 20g Keto diet since 10/31/2016 and last night decided to try my hand at intermittent fasting. Mostly to push through a plateau. I’ve kinda been languishing the last week or two. I’ve been hearing about it on 2KD since I started listening a month ago (slowly catching up). So I finished my chicken wings about 6:30 or so last night and I’m currently at 14:30 today.

Been sitting at work thinking about it. I’ve never really been a breakfast eater except on the weekends when I made my tater tot, bacon, egg hash… It really was more for the dish than because I needed to eat. I’ve worked for years without eating lunch and only recently started eating a 400-500 lunch about a year ago. My typical behavior prior to that was to eat dinner and maybe have something later in the night. So I’m kinda use to this already I think…

Now the question I have is should I push for my protein level all in my one meal at 6ish?

Basically, yes.

IF isn’t about reducing calories, so ideally you still want to get all the food you’d usually eat in a day during your feeding window during IF. As long as you’re keeping carbs at or below 20g, and keeping protein moderate, the rest should be fat.

Try that and see if it works for you. If you find yourself getting tired or cold, you may want to increase the amount of fat intake during your feeding window, as those may be signs that your metabolism is slowing.
