HI! I’ve begun a new stint of Keto after stopping previously when I thought my hormones were out of whack and thought it was due to the way I was eating so I went to the dr and they found nothing, then after more research I learned I wasn’t getting enough protein (hair falling out, zero energy, etc). That time I made it several months. I’ve now begun again and am at day day 12. I’ve cut out all non nutritive sweeteners, lowered my carbs, tracking protein better and getting more green veggies. Those are the differences to last time. I have more energy (initially) and my mood is much better. I did not experience near the keto flu I did the first time.
My question is small exertions are killing my energy. I start off feeling good but after a shower, for example, I get totally wiped out. Blow drying my hair, sprinting in the yard with the kids…they make me feel like I’ve run a marathon. I was pretty sedentary before, due to not feeling well but now I want to get up and move…I just cant move much lol. Just curious as to if this is part of the process, like extended keto flu or I’m doing something wrong with my intake. Or is it just that I was sedentary and I should try small exertions then build up? I seem to recover the energy just as quick as it left. But not being able to get all the soap out of my hair without a five min breather is a bummer
Here are my deets:
36 y/o fem, 180 lbs, 5’ 4", I normally eat one meal a day in the PM (this is pretty normal for me) and have a butter coffee or coffee with heavy cream in the afternoon. The macros I shoot for are less than 20 carbs, 60 protein, and fat I eat to satiety which was 84 grams yesterday. Some days it’s less, some days its more. My BMI is 44 so I’m trying to burn off what I store before really packing on the fat. I am not depriving myself though. Some days I’m not hungry and I will only have coffee. This is maybe one day in 4 or 5.

Fatigue is quite normal! Don’t sweat it, it goes away over time!! Remember that everyone has a body unique to them, and no two bodies react exactly the same. Some people get fatigue for a few days, others a few months!!

Are you making sure you get enough sodium? Most of the activities that you describe as wiping out your energy can also cause sweating. With keto we have to watch our electrolytes, especially sodium, and especially when sweating.
