Fat people at work

#162

I am carnivore and sometimes dirty in a very small way but in a desperate pinch the ‘grilled steak’ salad DOES become a necessity out of life on the road and I will eat some veg cause I am desperate. But what a restaurant gives me in the form of the good meats on a salad is limited and not thrilling but it has to do a bit

Salad. Fruit. Nuts. Eggs. All is forage. Mental exercise on growing and finding foods. Supermarkets make it too easy. But you might catch up on local news there. Down in the village.

There are fat people at work down there. Doing their jobs. Some love what they do. Their fatness just tells me that their body has capacity to buffer and defend against disease or addicted eating choices. It doesn’t tell me about their personality. So I chat to people, and when I do this magical thing happens, I don’t notice if they are skinny or fat. I just notice they are a person and nice enough to exchange a few words or thoughts with me.

If rice cakes and cottage cheese thrill you then you need to get out more.

It is funny ironically cause that menu posted of a persons food for the day…I would wither and die.

that was my low calorie/move more/old fashioned diet from the old days…oh I lost weight starving but I sure could not maintain that life…ever. I lost 70 lbs thru that and gained back 60…no way I would do that again ever in my life.

been there done that and for me personally saw it is useless
NOT saying it doesn’t suit that person…ever --cause we all must do it the way we see fit to help us personally thru the journey…but I am throwing out info saying those who need more protein and fat…omg eat please.

rice cake equals Styrofoam to me LOL

Exactly!! I love this, this is how we should all be approaching each other -just talk to people and see their inner being who they are =). There are a lot of really amazing lovely overweight people and a lot of skinny miserable people!!

(hottie turned hag) #167

And then there’s me: miserable at any and every weight :grimacing: :skull: :skull_and_crossbones: :japanese_goblin:

(Susan) #168

I did not mean to offend the overweight community. I never said overweight people are bad. I was just trying to understand the eating habits of my overweight co-workers. If I ate like that I would be blind or dead.

Cereal? I would think that “you’ll grow hair on your palms,” was more of a deterrent than this strategy.

:joy:

I agree. I love a loaded salad. Throw in all the stuff you love - a few cherry tomatoes, cukes, eggs, cheese, olives, bacon, meat, etc., and top with a delicious dressing. The greens become secondary but are still fresh and delicious.

And darn funny!

It was one of the 2KD podcast guest that said “Google masturbation + Kellogs and see what you get” I did but then wondered who was going to look at my search history and think “what the heck is wrong with him”.

(traci simpson) #173

Like cook them in bacon grease and add butter!!! DINNER!

(hottie turned hag) #174

Fixed it for you

I’m WEAK

You have taken a lot of stick for your original comments @Susa, but you have created a post that has invited an incredible amount of interest.
I hope you have learnt something from the community. Basically your diet was not much better than your colleagues from a keto point of view. Your metabolism more luck than judgement.
But overall a forum full of warm, non judgemental people who will gladly advise, educate and support you on your journey to better health.
Welcome .

I have been working out religiously since 1983 and building muscle will help everyones metabolism. Thank you for being nice my friend. Yes, I am slim but, I do work at it. Going to the gym, skiing, cycling, taking a walk is how I deal with my problems. I have had overweight friends that I cared about very much and they took a different path when it comes to dealing with problems like taking antidepressants and all sorts of pills that only ruined their health. They believed the “doctors” marking scheme of the “chemical imbalance” crap to get them to take their drugs so the doctors can get more money.

(Susan) #177

This is not necessarily true, there are tons of athletes that have severe eating disorders, I know, as I was one of them, and many of the others doing figure skating, ballet and gymnastics were also starving themselves to please their coaches.

(Bob M) #178

Then you might as well have all of those things without the greens and avoid lectins. Often, I have a “meat salad” or a “seafood salad”, without any greens. Do use olive oil at times, though.

So much wrong in this…Just so much. I started body building about 1980, was an active lifter for many years, then added cycling to that (jogging caused issues). Would mountain bike or cycle all the time, and (oddly, near my heaviest) cycle multiple centuries and many, many 60+ mile rides per year. Gained weight every year. Was not until I went low carb that I reversed that.

I have never ceased to go to the gym. But exercise is basically meaningless for weight, at least if one is eating a high carb diet.

exercise to deal with one’s problems. I so get that.
for me out in nature kayaking, hiking, swimming, fishing is super important to me. I must move. It is vital to my overall health. Not a worry on metabolism, not a worry on how/or what is being changed on my body. I do it for the mental health of it all

All of those activities especially outdoors are great for mental health. All my friends that took pills from the doctor are dead. Those anti anxiety meds etc. Doctors don’t tell people what it does in the long term.
