What are these “fasts” I keep reading about? What does that mean in a keto diet?
Fasting in Keto
Fasting is just times of not eating, giving the body a chance to recover/heal and burn off stored energy. Keto diets and intermittently fasting go together nicely (though both can be done on their own) because keto eating helps you adapt to fat-burning, so you aren’t as hungry during fasts… when you are burning body fat for fuel. So fasting helps with losing weight as well as lots of other benefits. Check out the fasting category for much more. https://www.ketogenicforums.com/c/fast
Once you are fat adapted you find it easier to skip meals (intermittent fasting) or go days without eating (extended fast). Some do it for additional weight loss and some do it for other reasons. I would not recommend doing either until you are fat adapted. You will know when you’re adapted when you accidentally skip meals because you’re not hungry.
Do some research from Dr Jason Fung…great info on fasting. Works soooo easy on keto. If you told me a year ago I’d go 3-4 days without eating, I would have told you you are nuts…well here I am doing it 1-2 times a moth and it’s a breeze
