Dr Bernstein diet solution question

(TJ Borden) #114

It doesn’t sound like you’re listening to your body at all. You keep doing the same thing that doesn’t seem to be working.

Try to mix it up, try something differently.

Why do you keep telling me how much potassium is in a slice of bacon?

(TJ Borden) #116

Okay, for the THIRD time…

What are you basing your potassium goal on? You have a number in mind. What is it, and where did it come from?

#117

If you are hungry for 5lbs of bacon I say go for it. I doubt you’d be able to eat it.

If you want to eat veggies then eat them. I wouldn’t eat them just to hit some arbitrary potassium number.

I rarely eat any veggies anymore… I feel better when I don’t. I don’t have any muscle cramps anymore. So where am I getting all my potassium/magnesium from? I am guessing my delicious meat!

(CharleyD) #119

I’m with you there. It tastes like the syrup in the soda fountain went out.

If you don’t mind me asking, was there a specific reason for taking the CoQ10? Does your doc have you on a statin drug?

(TJ Borden) #121

:joy::joy::joy: I’ve acquired a taste for it over the last few months, but that’s EXACTLY what I used to think of it.

(CharleyD) #122

Oh dear God in Heaven. So that means that it doesn’t taste any different to the people that love it?

Bless y’all’s hearts…

#124

I believe it is an aquired taste. I thought it was pretty vile at first. There is still hope for you :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(CharleyD) #125

I think you can put it away
It was made as a supplement because the metabolic pathway for it was what statin drugs target. And a side effect of statins is muscle aches. But if you’re taking the CoQ10 and the aches aren’t going away, then it’s not because of a deficiency of CoQ10.

(TJ Borden) #126

So you’re not listening to your body. You’re listening to a website that knows nothing about you.

I don’t know what I’ve said or done that suggests my goal is to tic you off.

Most any online calculator is based on the SAD and doesn’t necessarily apply for people on keto, and certainly doesn’t apply to everyone.

You said nothings helping. Other than trying to hit an arbitrary target from the internet (that you don’t track), what was have you tried?

(TJ Borden) #128

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

(CharleyD) #129

That’s a thing? I’m not sure that’s a thing.

(TJ Borden) #131

What do you want help understanding?

(CharleyD) #132

Listen Ace,

TJ is sinking his teeth in and isn’t going to let up until you get it in your head and admit that we’re not all cookie cutter carbon-units whose nutritional needs are all met by the result of putting in our demographic data in an app.

(TJ Borden) #133

What me??? Well that doesn’t sound like me at all. :joy::joy::joy::joy:

#134

Have you tried just eating what you are hungry for? Honestly when I just started listening to my body it tells me what I need.

Today I am craving some scallops and steak. So that is what I’ll pick up for dinner tonight. Last week I craved a huge salad… And that’s what I ate. I don’t pre fill up on veggies or pound down bacon just because I think I should.

This works pretty well for me.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #135

You’re a volunteer lightning rod!

(TJ Borden) #136

“Lighting Rod”… I like that. Usually I hear “ bull in a china shop”

(TJ Borden) #137

Hmmm, well now I am too

(TJ Borden) #139

Okay, then let’s go back to the basics:

  • 20 grams or less of carbs
  • moderate protein scaled to lean body mass
  • fat to satiety

Ignore everything else for a while and try this.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #141

This reminds me of something🤔
