I was bullied through pretty much my entire middle and high school life, and the best the adults could offer me was that at least it would stop after school, which Gen Z kids don’t even have the luxury of nowadays with social media following them everywhere. Only one time was I able to stand up for myself, when a girl who picked on me on the bus made me snap and I punched her face. But then I ended up at the principal’s office and got the “girls don’t fight” lecture. Gotta say my proudest moment was when I got a call from my mother that my nephew got sent to the principal’s office for a similar reason, punching a kid in the face who picked on him for being half-Black. At least I was proud for a while, except since then there’s been twice that my mother has had to get on him for bullying other kids, and I had to have a talk with him when I last visited in December. He’s going to middle school next year, so I’m interested to see what happens.
Dr Berg or Dr Berry?
“Next” implies that there was a previous time
You need to smoke some chicken or something (slightly confused as to how that works, currently).
Sadly and fortunately, that’s the best thing he could do. Bullies don’t like risking injury when dishing out abuse. Hopefully word got out that your nephew might blindside someone if they make him blow his temper.
You should have been a lawyer. I retract my initial statement and amend it to:
“If I hear you say you are stalled…”
I’m not an actual arsehole, I just play one on the internet
(Journalists learn pretty quickly to be careful with word usage
No it’s not—it’s awesomely insane!
Well, you take the chicken, put some lighter fluid on it, strike a match, hold it up to your lips, and inhale. How else would someone smoke a chicken, huh?
Two pertinent points, here.
-
I’ve never smoked ANYTHING in my life.
-
Regina is involved, so any possible rule you ever thought off is not only off the table, but out the window entirely.
Now wait a minute—I heard you smoked some bacon once. Or are you going to try to tell us you didn’t inhale?
It’s about time this thread went entirely off the rails. It lasted far too long as tangentially related to the original topic.
Berg or Berry? How about Dr Eric Westman. Look for Askadapt or “Adapt Your Life” in YouTube.
Pretty short vids a great Q&A style resource.
I had a RD hound me in a comment section about my Keto choices and when I simply expressed an interest in getting some raw milk. I was raised on a small dairy farm through the 1950s through
1970. Drank raw milk. She was all over me about listeria and blah, blah. I finally had to tell her I didn’t give a sh@# what she said and would no longer respond as it was time for my bacon and eggs with butter. I do not trust most of them. NOTE: I said most.
Around here you can buy raw milk as long as you buy it directly off a farm.
I buy raw goat’s milk from a lady for making cheese and butter. I’ve watched her milk her goats and her barn is clean so I am not worried. I love raw milk.
Between Berg and Berry, I choose Berry. I am not a fan of Dr Berg. Dr Berry just says it like it is and he is humorous (which I like). Dr Berg is like a wet towel and I feel like he’s always trying to sell this or that.
Oops let me correct myself as my original post may not seem fair to Dr Berry.
Dr Westman is on the front line of keto research and clinical practice, he has nearly 100 papers to his name, Teachers other doctors and has a successful practice.
Dr Berry seems like an excellent family M.D.never says anything weird, I listen to him as well as Dr Westman
I quit Dr. Berg when he was telling people not to drink before bed, the reasons were for more than the usual suspect of going to the bathroom but it didn’t make much sense to me and then there were lots of commenters asking if it was alright to drink in the morning when they got up, or was it ok to drink this and that or could this gal drink water when she was pregnant. blah, blah. The pretzel thinking (sorry) of some was mind boggling and I responded to Dr. Berg that he should rethink the whole thing so folks UNDERSTAND what he meant and clarify the issue. I unsubscribed but will check in now and again.
I have heard different researches discussing such a treatment in the context of the belief the one of the causes of Alzheimer’s is insulin and glucose resistance in the brain which causes low energy for the brain. In that case I can see the argument for exogenous ketones.
Lets says that ketones could minimize symptoms, endogenous ketones would have a favorable impact but think of how difficult it could be to get a geriatric patient with alzheimers into nutritional ketosis.
I started off with Dr. Berg and I have been drifting off more towards Dr. Berry as of lately. he’s blunt and down to earth and I have little patience for scientific or medical jargon.
Right now I’m looking at different kinds of keto youtubers. not necessarily doctors, but regular people and how they adapted to keto.
I’ve never listened to one of his podcasts, but from what people have relayed here that he advocates… he sounds like a fruitcake. And IMO anyone who allows himself to be taken in by the Scientologists lacks common sense and critical thinking skills.
