Dr Berg or Dr Berry?

Pretty sure none of those comments were aimed at you, but you chose to be offended anyhow. If you’ve never worked in healthcare you would not know what I’m speaking of. Nurses looking to marry a doctor is a stereotype which keeps repeating itself. That is all. I knew a nurse who dated a lab tech, a respiratory therapist, and a physical therapist. Working her way up to a doctor was what she told me.

And Berry over Berg, to keep thread on topic.

Whatever!

Well my wife got a trophy husband - nine years difference. I’m not a bit offended by the title.

No need, I was already thinking it.

#264

I suppose Trophy is better than Gold Digger  Go you saucy Toyboy!

#265

I never told you my nickname! How’d you know that?

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #266

Just how much repeat business are you giving them? Do you get a quantity discount?

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #267

My ex is thirteen years older. It just occurred to me to wonder if his friends thought of me as the trophy husband.

Just doing my bit for the economy :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Probably… my hubby is only 4 years younger but because of his Chinese heritage looks about 15 years younger… Most people are way out on guessing his age…I must admit I never thought to wonder if they think I’m a cradle snatcher! Well in the early days I may have but never gave a
shit
about what others think anyway…

Quick story. My wife and I got married very young and started a family. This meant that we became friends with the parents of their classmates. One night at a party everyone dared my wife to prove her age (they were all much older) and she produced her driver license. They we surprised how young she was. That’s when one of the guys whispered in my ear “boy you really robbed the cradle”. I am less that three months older than she is.

I fucking loved the “Cobra Kai” series. Loved it. Watching THE archetypical 80s bully go on to help bullied Gen Z kids learn to stand up for themselves, while still being a pathetic douchebag who’s perpetually stuck in 1989 and has to learn how to be less of a douchebag as he learns to care for his students? I am HERE for this. I cannot wait for season two.

The original Karate Kid hit the theaters when I was 15 so it catered to me perfectly and it made me want to go out and take up tai kwon do again. I loved the original. But the new one was kinda typical and predictable. I still watched the first season because I wanted to see how Daniel and Johnny interacted after all these years. I’m sure if I were a lot younger I would be a lot more hyped about it. The cafeteria fight sign was pretty cool though.

Ah see I liked it because of how they tried to address the problem of bullying in today’s culture, how it follows kids out of school because of technology, how completely ineffective the schools and parents were at handling it. You understand why the Cobra Kai kids would be attracted to Johnny’s teachings, because they had nowhere else to go. And some of Cobra Kai’s philosophies were good: the kids got self-confidence, it wasn’t just “Cobra Kai bad, Miyagi-do good.”

Plus it had 80s crack, and I love me some 80s crack.

That’s a good point. I probably wasn’t able to relate to the parental aspect of this because I grew up, and kids in general, grew up in the 80s and we all pretty much did what our parent’s told us. I’m actually aghast at how some kids talk to their parents now days or the things they do in defiance of them.

But the bullying thing was definitely there in the original Karate Kid. It was kid gets bullied and beaten up… kid finds kung fu… kid finds revenge on bully. It was certainly something I could relate to. I wasn’t bullied a lot but it did happen and it typically went away after I showed the bully I would fight back if pushed enough, even if it cost a black eye or a little blood.

That’s probably the best silly music video I’ve ever watched. It’s a celebration of inanity, a la the 80s. I actually enjoyed it and thanks for posting it.

Randomness - I love it!
